I didn't like the factory coil, I just couldn't get it to heat/glow evenly, no matter how much I tinkered with the coil spacing and the flavor was always burnt, no matter who saturated the wicks where so I rebuilt it. Using 3, one inch long segments of silica (from the original coil) wrapped 6 times in 34 ga. nickrome wire got me 2.5 Ohms, perfect, full coil heating, MASSIVE vapor production and no more dry burnt taste. I went with 2.5 Ohms partly for safety (I am a little crazy and am running unprotected Sony Li Ion 18650s, the same ones I use in high power flashlight mods, hints me knowing/wanting 2.2-2.7 Ohms for the load) and partly out of pure accident, it just happened to be 2.5 Ohms from my first attempt. I also drilled out the air hole on the squid to 3/32s IIRC, making for almost a too airy draw.

I am sure none of this is exciting to 99% of you but I still thought I would share.
