Mind if I segue?...been working on my rendition of a mech woodvil over the last couple days (5 mins here, 10 mins there...), here's what I've got so far...the body is a a cocobola out of Robs trash bin, rda (at least what you see of it) is an Ehpro Atomic (of course). The Atomic is hybrid'd with my own brass center pin, the firing strip is one of Rob's S/O's, the button is brass rod in a brass tube sleeve...the neg wire is what's left of some 16 awg sterling silver wire, I ditched the bottom switch because of the top button and filled it with epoxy as well as Rob's boo-boo above my finger on the side...I haven't decided to go with the S/O spring or do I go total commando and go with beryllium copper strip (if it dead shorts it'll just catch fire and I'll have to build another one)...here's some pics so far...

that's pretty cool, you drilled the pinky hole originally or it came like that? I'd say becu strip too, to keep it true full mech

I decided to swap out the whole catch cup and make this one be able to take larger atties. going with the stainless steel look on this one I guess, this is with an 18mm cyclone. a provari beauty ring will fit on this base and make a flush mount for a 22mm atty too. only thing is, with this mod now the door only goes down :)

I'm not sure where I want to put the fire switch, could go right near the screen for a thumb switch or could go up top like on the mechs :)

It's alive...decided to go with the spring, the mech switch ate up less height than I first though...the tiny brass switch post with the brass sleeve is about as nice a movement I've ever used (never mind made, no one is more surprised as me!) , smooth as silk, about 1 mm throw...I finally have another woodvil...I had to build it myself, but I got one.

So you all have refinished a ton of these things collectively...tung oil, wax, what?...I want a satin finish though I imagine manhandling it will eventually polish it, thoughts?

the consensus wood finish appears to be Howard's Feed & Wax, with sunshield.

Karen (nerak on ECF) recommends it and she owns more Woodvils than mebbe Robert :)

Time lord years? Infinity plus one lol
Plus or minus

To properly shielded Woodvil time lords, infinity is no problem.

but take them out in the sun without sunshield, and i guarantee you you will be wanting sandpaper and Sunshield soon. i am already sending one back to Robert to get sanded down, and that was from the Feb sale.

of course, YMMV :)
