Whoa! Just noticed my wood is already darkening up around the top and bottom. I even soaked it with howards for 20 mins per directions. I guess I should of done multipal coats but didn't think I had to do it so soon. Thst stuff smells bad and it's hard to find the time to soak it when I can have the window open to vent durring.

What to do?? What do I do to clean it again before retreating it.

Should post a pic but it's late.

At the rate it's going my [HASHTAG]#122[/HASHTAG] mod is gona look like a wenge wood in a month.

I just looked at 122, it is a gorgeous mod. I am so sorry to hear it is already darkening. Have you had it in the sun? If you soaked it for 20 minutes with Howard's, you think it would be good. Did you use the Howard's with UV protection, the SunShield? They have different kinds of Howard's. My Howard's is at my friends, she ordered it for me. I haven't taken my Woodvil outside. Do you know what kind of wood is on the mod? I didn't see it listed.

Rob said.. SteamStack believe its a amboyna burl but I could be wrong.

That's all I got.

Only been outside not even 2 hours total with 2 trips in the car in my hand.

This is the stuff I have.. Howard 16 oz. Wood Polish and Conditioner-FW0016 - The Home Depot

I never heard of it. If that is it, it sure is pretty. Ancient Puffer, that is what I had my friend to order for me. I already paid her. Next time I see her, I will get it. She said it has already been delivered. I did get the SunShield. I doubt if this Woodvil will see much sun, but ya never know. Maybe for a special occasion I will take it outside. If I can get more Woodys...I will possibly use one of them for outside vaping. I like the metal Reo, and use it all the time too. But the Woodvil is hands down my favorite. I just barely touch my other vaping gear now.

It does look like it could be Amboyna Burl. 20 minutes is a way long soak IMO... it doesn't need that long. I only give mine 3-4 minutes before buffing it off. The top and bottom end grain most likely soaked up a bunch of Howards. Could be when (if) it dries the color will lighten back up some. Fingers crossed.

I use Howards sun shield on my wood mods. Every few months it's just a quick wipe, twice a year I let it sit overnight. Top and bottom of the mod will be end grains and they will soak up more of the wax/oil blend. The slight darkening with an oil or wax is normal for light colored woods and should not continue past the point it is now. Keeping top oiled or waxed is especially important if you use dark juices, I notice a little droplets around the airhole on the mod.

I think she's fine... guessing. Earlier last night I wiped it down a few times with a slightly damn soft cloth hoping it was just oil from my skin or something.. seemed to help a little but wouldn't know till I seen her in sun light by the window again in the morning.

Then in the morning it still looked off to me. So I put it away in the closet out of sun light till I can order the right sun protection Howard stuff.

Then hours ago I said screw it and pulled it out as I had some time to kill and gave it 3 coats or more of howards bees wax orange oil again.. figured maybe it wasn't enough with the one.

This time I didn't wipe it off as hard as I did prior.. thinking maybe I was taking it all off maybe? Also I massaged it in real good insted of just wiping it on thinking that might help.

It does look way better now after all that. The grain has a 3d effect to it and it even plays tricks to your eyes depending on the way you hold it the grain will be seen and then disappear! Crazy cool. Hehe

Anyways.. I've got bigger problems. Like my package from reosmods sitting in the drawer thst I got earlier today and have not opened in guilt thst I should not of bought it. Wife don't know about it yet and there's 2 woodviles inside.

Trying to make enough money to where it will be real easy on me as.. see I have the money for it so why yell??

Only a quarter way paid off!! :( oh the stress is literally killing me.

I got my Howard's with uv protection today. I put some on the Woodvil. It darkened mine up a little too. But, I think that is normal. Any kind of oil will make dry wood look a little darker. But if it is a lot darker, that is not good. I didn't leave mine on but just around 4-5 minutes tops. The smell was minimal to me. I didn't put it on the inside, just the outside. The inside I had already put mineral oil in it, a few days ago... I think the Howard's made it look good. I don't want the cocobolo getting darker than it has to. I know it will darken with age regardless.

Can relate to the Reoitis. You should at least open the package of Woodvils and see what they look like. Rob will allow you to return them -- IF YOU DON'T Put Juice in them, and they are in mint condition. However, once you run juice through them, Rob will not take them back.

Also, keep in mind that Reo's have great resell value in the Classifieds. You could use them awhile, and resell them. Based on $230 a piece, you should get at least $437 (95%) back - maybe more.
