Got my shopping cart filled up at lucky 7 vapes. As of right now this is what I have--USP grade VG, USP grade PG, USP grade 100mg nicotine (100%vg) strawberries and cream flavor, and menthol flavor. Also some misc bottles and I will get gloves and other safety equipment at local stores. I'm starting with small quantities of flavors so I don't waste money. I would like to know if a.) I can do it and b.) if I can do it well. If I can, I will start getting more flavors. I guess my main question for mixing is flavor %. I am wanting to do a 50/50 blend at 12mg nicotine in a 12ml bottle strawberries and cream with a hint of menthol. What would be a good overall flavor percentage for both flavors? Do people usually use the same total percentage of flavor with every mix, or do they usually add more or less with different flavors? Sorry for such a vague question. Hopefully that makes sense to someone. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before pulling the trigger on this deal! Thanks in advance! :)

It just takes experimenting and patience. I think my mixes now are as good or better than any store bought juice I've purchased. As for flavoring percentage, I have a few really strong flavors that I use a drop or 2 per 10ml and some I use at 10%. Just be patient, start with small batches until you get something you like. Good Luck! :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

I usually start with about 3ml of base and add 1 drop and test, then another drop and test.. start small. test, test and test.. shake your mix good before testing. Then when you are getting close I use a hot water steep for 20-30 minutes.. then test again.. see if you need to add more. You can always add more. Its harder to take away.. :) Remember that over flavoring can defeat you and will produce less flavor in most mixes. Good success! You can do it..

I don't know what brand of flavoring lucky 7 sells, but my suggestion is to start at 5%. Some flavoring brands are incredibly strong, and some are much weaker. 5% is a good starting point, and adjust from there. If you don't have them, or didn't order any, get some 1ml, 10ml, and 3ml luer lock syringes, and 16 or 18 gauge needles. Measuring using percent is far more accurate than drops, so syringes are necessary. Drops from different droppers can be vastly different.

I started to DIY about a month ago. I can answear one question for certain, you can do it! And I'm certain well! Really nothing to it. What I did while I waited for my supplies to come was find all the reciepes I could online. At least ones that sounded good to me. There are tons right here on ECF. By the time my supplies came I was all set to try them out. I just downloaded a good ejuice calculator and mixed a bunch of 10ml bottles to steep and try. The ones I liked I made bigger bottles of. Your going to love it!

Thanks for all of the advice! You folks are awesome! I think 5% flavor is what I'm gonna shoot for. So maybe 3% strawberries and cream, 2% menthol. Maybe even 4%S&C and 1% menthol. Not too sure how strong this menthol is gonna be, so I should probably start out a little low. I'm about to hit the order button, so I should be set up in about a weeks time :). One more question--As for "speed steeping", any advice on that? I've never done it that way, just the old fashion waiting it out till it tastes good lol. Is it boiling water for 20-30 minutes, or just hot water? Thanks again everyone!

use glass bottles to place your newly made juice in, cap and place in water no more than about 150 degrees for anywhere up to 4 hours or a little more.. do not boil. shake several times throughout this process. min time would be about 30 minutes but several hours will give best results.. Some have steeped like this for 12 hours or more.. I personally think a couple of hours is enough and then let the bottles cool and the mixture rest for up to a couple of days.. transfer back to plastic at this point if you prefer.

What brands r u guys using for flavor at 5%. Most of the recipes I have seen have 20-25% of flavor in them. I have been mixing my own for about a month. Flavor art is good for me at 20% but the loranns I got (blue berry and watermelon) I am using 30%. Making it 50/50 10mg nic and steeping a week. Am I doing something wrong?

Some people have burnt out taste buds from smoking, and it will take some time for them to recover.
I rarely go above 15% (for single flavors), haven't smoked for 2+ Months.
I've used FW Blueberry and TPA Blueberry Wild @ 5% each (10% total).
Then added 2% CAP NY Cheesecake, and 2% TPA Graham Cracker Clear.
ADV that I can run for 2 weeks without killing my coils.

I switched to this from chewing a little over 2 months ago. I don't have the strongest since of taste si that could be an issue. Right now I am ordering flavors from different companies trying to find what I like. So far flavor art is at the top of my list but I haven't tried any tpa capellas fw etc.

Ah, everybody's different, as far as taste buds...
Type of delivery equipment can also effect the taste.
My main setup is a Provari, Anyvape Davide Glassomizer, single micro coil 1.8 ohms, and organic cotton balls from Wallgreens.
3.8v to 4.2v depending on Juice.
Flavors seem stronger on my Kraken and RSST.
But weaker on my Vivi Nova (retired).
Carto's = not a clue...

I just put a 1.8 ohm coil in one of my kayfuns and get very little TH and flavor. I am running a mech mod though so that may make a difference. Debating on making a mod that I can use 2 18650 bats in and start at 2ish ohms to see the difference there.

INDEX CARDS!!! On the blank side, write down your mix when you first make it. Each time you adjust it to flavor, jot down the changes. Once it is perfect for your taste, flip the card over and scribe your permanent recipe. And of course share with us! :D It sucks to finally make the perfect blend, and then realize that you have no idea how you got to it!

As a side note, you will have mixes that you find are simply not good. Dont throw them away. Mix them with other bad mixes in the future and you may get some good random tastes! lol

I've only done coffee, tobacco, and bakery flavors. Tobacco I do the lowest, 3-5%, coffee 8-10, and bakery 20%. I am only using TFA, so far. I haven't used any fruit flavors yet. It's a lot easier than I would have thought though, and I'm sure you'll figure it out and get hooked. Might as well clear out a cabinet for your stuff!
