Wanted to share my first impressions of these drippers (I vape moderately and have been using them for over 8 hours now):
THESE ARE GREAT! I've used a few other types of LR atties and they all have had one or another issue. 901's you walk a tightrope to keep them working just right and not leaking, some 510's taste horrible as they get a little dry or perform inconsistently, other atties burn your throat as soon as they get the slightest bit dry, finally some just kill your juice's flavor.
Of LR & SR 901's, LR 510's and a 2.5ohm 306 this one beats or comes close in every category making it a clear winner for drippers:
- This atty has (obviously a guesstimate) maybe 10-20% better vapor than any of my previous top performers and its also pretty consistent (I have to give it an occasional primer draw for the best performance).
- The vapor thins enough to notice without any foul taste so you know exactly when to add another drop or two. Going too far into dry territory you will obviously get a little throat burn like you do with any LR, but it's very mild by comparison.
- I experienced no start-up pains at all (no break-in harshness nor primer taste. Of course, there isn't any primer). The only thing that I did notice was a little "popping" for the first hour or so - nothing that splashed juice up or anything, I could just notice it in the draw a little.
- Without all the extra material you can change flavors at the drop of a hat (I have yet to try cinnamon or menthol but will follow up when I do), and:
- The flavor comes through great. Surprisingly close to a standard 901, which IMO still has the best flavor for many juices provided you have the patience to pull on it slowly for several seconds. This only takes ~2-5-3.5 seconds for a superb hit.
- The draw is right about where I like it. It is sometimes a slight bit gurgly when first filled, but not too tight nor loose.
- TH is just right also. Good presence without being harsh (I sometimes find my SmokTech 1.5ohm 901 too harsh no matter how I use it with some juices).
As far as leaking goes, I'm really don't see a big problem at all. It makes me wonder how many of the people that complain about it have ever tried to use a 901 (which is what I started with). No, these aren't leak-proof (as someone earlier in the thread said: if air can go in, juice can probably find its way out too), but they are easier to deal with than the few different 901's I've tried (it's no mystery to me why empires sells its drip-shields as "
901 drip shields"). I've been using 70/30 PG and even 80/20 PG. The worst that has happened a thin ring around the connector - not even enough to have formed a drip or a run. This accumulated after many refills. By this time, I'd have wiped some juice-on-the-run off my atty a minimum of a half-dozen times if I was using a 901. I've wiped around the connector three times now, and again, it wasn't required any of those times - the juice wasn't going anywhere - note that the top of my mod is flat however (

You obviously can't use these like a 510 that has an intact bridge, there just isn't the material in these to hold onto as much as those do. The solution is all too simple: use less fluid, more frequently. I put no more than 2 drops at a time (same as I do on an SR 901) and as said above, this produces plumes of vapor. Sure, it's slightly more effort if you don't have a dripping mod of some sort, but it's obviously worth it or we wouldn't all be trying these things to start with.
I don't think there will ever be an atty or carto that performs perfectly with all juices in all situations. On the theory that if you've tried these and think similarly of them, you'll probably appreciate this atty as well, here are my other favorites:
- LR 510 cartos (SmokTek/Boge): The on the go item. Fall into the "average flavor, better than average vapor" category.
- SR 901's and 510 dual-coil cartos: These are for those "delicate" flavors that present better with less heat.
- LR 510's [the non-dripper variety] and 2.5ohm 306 atty. Both great drippers that I have appreciated and will continue to use at home to extend the lifetime of these new drippers until I can stock up
