Crap! 48 hours on my new dripping atty and its dead. Well, it hisses just a little tiny bit but no vapor. Dang... thought I'd get more time outta these. Probably my fault, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions? Been dripping since January. On to the second dripping atty. Glad I bought 5.
i have been using the same one since july 18th...and a couple of times i thought this thing was dead...cleaned the atty and it fired again...i sat it down for two days one time thinking it had died and lord behold i tried again a boom, still working..don't throw that ne out just yet.

lol...as good as the 1.8?

One of the nice things about 3.0ohm versus a 1.8ohm is that, all other things being equal: a 3.0 ohm will have a longer NiChrome coil - obviously providing more surface area. It's not JUST that the total wattage is greater at 5v (8.3 vs 7.6)

Well, unless it's completely dead now, I'd have suggested checking the connections and try cooking it on a fresh battery [read: a careful dry burn]. I've been able to "bring back" a few attys OK if they were very weak. The atties I've lost in 6 months have been: two pops (one my fault, the other a defective PT), one broken during de-bridging, and another I learned I broke the internal connector from whacking an attie on a table either end (trying to tap water out or whatever).

Anyway - my 1.8 is still kicking after about 1 1/2 weeks. Somehow it just 'feels' like it's going to maintain it's reliability. So much so that I've used a couple darker juices on it that I don't use on anything else and this handles them fine without gunking up. Better luck with the next one!

lol please dont whack my atties on the table it can't be good for them. No fixing them with hammers either.

I know...slick, right? I remember how I did this actually. I was still wasting my time experimenting with cart fillers. I had 901 where the body of the atomizer sunk deeper into the sleeve and I was tapping it on a counter to get it come back toward the top. It actually worked good, if that's what you'd call the peak performance I could get from a cart. Of course it didn't survive many iterations of this and I discovered that day just how fine the wires inside some of these things are.

Anyway, lesson(s) learned. No further atomicide has taken place at chateau wolcen.

I had commented (in my second mention about these) that I did get some harshness from the 501 1.8 dripper. I certainly did, but I'm glad to say that was all just break-in. It actually took a few days - presumably because I was only sticking it on weakened batteries. Since then though, smooth sailing and no drop in performance in sight.

Good stuff :) Can't wait to get the thicker juice I ordered - the few drops I had left in two bottles of thick stuff had this thing billowing vapor since it sat in the cup so much better.
