Boge all of the way.

But, you don't have to do all of that for little ole me. I am not normally one who uses cartomizers, I like dripping and my bottom feeding mod ;) But, I made a deal in the classys and got some standard 510 batteries coming in and I just wanted to pick a box up for them. So, definitely not worth making the effort for, one box  I just figured, if you already had em, I'd pick a box up if the price was good, along with my attys. If not, no worries :)

Its not a big deal heaps of folks like cartos they will sell off and I might be able to get them cheap for you. I have been kicking around getting some anyway, i just need to know what folks prefer, i will chat with my boge contact sunday night our time and see what we come up with.

So Cal
I received one of these and a drip tip with my shipment yesterday. I tried it with my fav SV101 and a couple e-liquids from GV. For all three I dripped three drops into the unit and all three times I got two poor hits and then a third burnt tasting hit. I’m being careful to drip it as centered as possible and I’ve watched the vids. I tried 4 drops and it leaked. FYI I am using a eGo battery.

What am I doing wrong??

Curious what pg/vg ratio you are using....if I use a thinner liquid, I get this for a short while till the atty gets "seasoned". I have now gotten into a habit no matter what my liquid ratio is....I posted my experience a few pages back, but here it is again;)

I get a little leaking through the vent holes....I have found my solution and now wouldn't trade these for the world. I do a dry hit....meaning, I suck one quick kinda hard suck on the drip tip before firing my pv...this sucks any juice that has escaped into the vent holes on the threading....when I get to the point where I don't hear any juice when I do this, I get one more good hit before I need to drip again. I do not see how you can prevent any possible leakage and keep the airflow the atty needs...anywhere air comes in is a potential juice escape point. Just my :2c: and experience:)

This has become my habit...even with regular atties anymore....I do a dry hit first and it seems to suck all the juice that has escaped down the center right back up into the cup;) Until it is seasoned, I will do this and if I don't hear any juice moving back up into the cup, I can get one more hit till it is kinda harsh burn taste...then I add 2 more drops. The only time I drip 3 drops is on a fresh clean one...after that it is 2 at a time. Hope this helps. It took me a little bit to get a handle on what works for me with these, but I am IN LOVE:wub: with them now! These are so much better than any debridged atty I have used.

Thanks for the reply! How many vaps do you get with this method B-4 you need to add more drops? Do you use a drip guard?

No drip guard...I didn't even know they made them till I saw the post here. As far as vaps...I never really counted:laugh: As you know it will vary based on the length of hit, but I will definitely try counting and get back with you on that;)

Edit: It seems I am getting 10 or so long hits....well, long for me. I am currently using 50/50 ratio. Will try again later with a thinner liquid and see if it makes any difference. I will note that I can hear the crackle of the juice on the atty when it is not in need of any drips. The quieter the atty gets, the closer it is to time for more drops;)
Now keep in mind that this atty is already seasoned, I can redo my count on a fresh atty tomorrow if you'd like.

I tried it again last night using your suggestions. Two drops and GONE after a couple of short vaps and every vape has a burnt taste. All my juice is around a 70PG/30VG mix. Maybe I didn’t dry burn it long enough b4 trying to vap?? I did an ohm test and the reading bounces between 1.7 and 2.0 so I guess that’s normal?

k...I don't dry burn before vaping. What I mean my a dry hit is basically just suck on the drip tip as if taking a hard short hit without hitting the button;)

okay...on a new clean atty with 70/30, I am only getting about 4 hits before I get that burnt thing on the very first 3 drops....then again for the next 2 drops. After that about 7-8 hits till the atty is good and seasoned. The one I've been using (good and seasoned, I don't get a burnt feeling at all). Now I feel I need to state, that a few of my drip tips tend to hold the liquid hostage and not let it get to the atty:glare:

Thanks. What I mean by dry burn is to fire the new atty a few times before using it to burn off any coating used during assembly. So you add your liquid through the drip tip without removing it? I tried that and got a mouth full of e-liquid. :censored:

I've been lurking over here for a while now...I'm dying to try some of these but haven't had $ to do so for a bit (I think I can spring for them this week though!!).

Anyway, yes, typically "dry burn" refers to actually firing an atomizer with no juice on it. I'd refer to taking a hit without pressing the button as a primer draw, and they are worth a try. It's certainly helped me get more consistent performance with some parts.

Personally, I don't suggest a dry burn of a new atty, although I do use this method for cleaning. Any atties I've used that have any sort of primer seems to get worked through pretty quick by the first several drops. I just don't inhale those hits. With these atties in particular, I would expect very little - if any - sort of primer in them (it's not like there's a lot of places for it to hide, right?)

And now my question...I'd not been familiar with the drip shields until this thread. I normally don't get much leaking from a 510 (901's are of course a very different story). Just to make sure I'm understanding though - you must *have* to use a separate adapter (e.g. 510 to 510) to get the bottom seal below the holes for them to be effective, right?

BTW, Shiny - good call on the Boge v Bauway. Love the Boges. Good price too ;-)

Oh - and yeah, I forgot I wanted to say something re: drip tips. Some are just like that. They vary in terms of the inside diameter and the material makes a large difference too (hence the whole big deal about delrin which is not only good at blocking heat but 'slippery' as well). If I'm using a 510 and a drip tip, I normally leave those on and do a quick blow over/into the top to get any liquid spannig the gap out of the way and I've not had any issues.

This usually doesn't force any juice out anywhere on a 510, but on a 901 I'll sometimes get a little out the side. So on 901's I'll often do as you do and just get them out of the way first :p

I was wondering if that is what it was or if you were confusing what I meant by a dry hit...anyway, there is no primer on these. As for the direct drip or through the dt....the 1st 3 is direct...after that it is through the dt, and yes, some do hold the liquid, I do what wolcen stated and gently blow down the dt (as if I was trying to cool the coil;)) And another +1 to wolcen on the delrin, but I prefer the aluminum dt so I am almost always fighting with them holding the liquid:laugh: After a while, blowing down the dt just becomes habit and I don't even realize I do it.
