Yes, I'm a member of CASAA. A lot of this is basic advocacy - and I mean, very basic since I'm not a member of any political groups.
The headlines that twist anything pro-ANTZ are taken from headlines of a press release. Every event / announcement should have a press release. This is 21st century journalism.
Press releases are sent out w/ email blasts. They are zip files for faxes, contacts receiving. I assume someone in CASAA already has them. I'd hate to see you go to so much work to duplicate the same thing. There should also be a set for various media outlets and thay are fairly standardized. Also another file for state and national leaders/reps/etc. Pretty basic and I'm sure some are already out there.
Then maybe customize a file specifically for CASAA that might include inside contacts for FDA and various health groups mentioned earlier. That one would need to find the most effectice address / contacts and might need to get insider information.
I've seen advocacy groups release a file of email address' (zip file) for members to contact. Just copy and paste into the address bar.
CASAA is not stupid and they are not green. They have done an impressive job, sure there's never enough monies or bodies, but I know they know the basics. These files probably already exist and they always need updating.
Having insider contact info is priceless (which I don't have). Some people will gather contact info from medical journals and associations, some take it off health plan network information, sometimes you can just call and ask for it. Often it changes after each email blast.
I think one of the biggest benefits might be teaching individuals how to become their own lobbyist.
It might be fun to dress up as a alter ego BP or BT lobbyist and then go on a visit to local elected leaders (let them know you know). Hmmm... How about a nat'l Halloween Vape Bash in your rep's office this year? That'll get some attention.
You can never count on "next year".
Are you a member of CASAA? They would love to get ideas from you!!
Hopefully next year with enough time, those ideas could be implemented!
If there's any way you could get email addresses for those medical associations, that would be great! I can add them to the list.
