There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous.

The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.

It has been xxxxxxx days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to xxxxxx cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $xxxxx that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you:

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

The patches, gum and drugs have a dismal failure rate. Listen to the “man on the street” and you will find there are more of us that have quit smoking tobacco by using e-cigarettes than you think; we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. And that number grows every day.

....then continue on with a short paragraph about your personal journey.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Sincerely,

YOU

ETA: just a suggestion :)

I put it in as days (rather than years/days/months), because for most of us, that will be a bigger number; and I think it's important to show how much money we've saved by not throwing it at the tobacco/pharmaceutical companies.

Which in turn shows how much more we have to spend in this failing economy to try to turn things around! Brilliant! If they put two and two together. :sneaky: I know I've saved a bundle, but have spent a bit of it on things other than cigs and vaping!! the savings is on paper only. ;)

I am trying to follow and understand this thread but all of the different comments have gotten me a bit confused. I feel like an idiot for asking but would someone please PM me and spell out for me exactly what I need to do? Or just reply here in case others are confused as well.

I would like to participate but I'm confused in regards to what the actual plan is.

The sample email is great. I will be sending that letter to everyone I can think of.

On the 18th, I will supply the email addresses of the different new agencies that we want the emails to go to.

The plan is to flood the media with Positive stories about how the ecigarette has helped us quit smoking and better our life. We want to flood them on 1 day. World & National Vaping Day which is September 19th. We would like the Subject line to be as consistant throughout the emails so that it shows a unified front.

In a sense, this is a positive peaceful protest. The hope is to get a couple of news agencies to see that there ARE positives about the ecigs and they are worth looking into as a healthy alternative to smoking.

I'm still not sure how we want the subject line to actually look like. That is still an unknown. A sample email is still in the works. I do have the email addresses all ready to post when the time comes.

Please ask away! I want this to be as simple as possible. :)

I tend to agree. This thread is like a planning thread and I wouldn't want someone to have to search through 29 pages until they got to the suggested email to use. Maybe a new post is needed or a posting on a blog that can be linked to?

I'm going to rework the opening post and I've already contacted a mod about how easy it would be to redo the sample and add the email addresses. Everything will be in place on the first post (I hope) by the 18th.

Ideally, everything will be in that opening post.

Thank you so much Robin! I can do this!

Might I suggest that the bolded text in your quote above be a strict requirement? We don't want this to backfire on us with a bunch of rude or otherwise detrimental comments, even though the intentions are good.

Y'all can count me in.

New first post?????:

SAMPLE EMAIL:

Subject line: National & World Vaping Day, The E-cig Saved me from inhaling over 4000 chemicals.

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. I'm going to have to do a draft in word LOL

Email addresses need to be txt file. Not everyone can read Word (like me). There's several cross platform open source word processors that work well also.

However, I just ran into this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-local-anti-ecig-ordinances.html#post10664673

This organization is publishing information for "model legislation of ecigs" and the real kicker for me was; Made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health

So they are using tax dollars to fund a campaign to eliminate a legal business. I seriously think LA Public Health, Calif Attn General, American Lung Society should be included in this email blast. My blood is boiling. I can't even think straight right now.

News media, snooze media. Maybe we should be more targeted. I see some tax dollar org's in this list.

Here is a list of funding sponsors; the website list BOD and staff. One of the first things I noticed when reviewing them is that they seem to have solid credetials in non-profits and heavily connected to public health departments in a number of states. To an uniformed eye, they look legit.

ChangeLab Solutions would like to thank our funders for their support:
Association of State & Territorial Health Officials
California Department of Public Health / Cancer Prevention and Nutrition Section
California Department of Public Health / California Obesity Prevention Program (COPP)
California Department of Public Health / Tobacco Control Program
The California Endowment
The California HealthCare Foundation
The California Wellness Foundation
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Federal Transit Administration
The Health Trust
Johns Hopkins University
Kaiser Permanente
Kresge Foundation
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health
National Center for Healthy Housing
Opportunity Finance Network
Prevention Institute
The Public Health Institute
Public Health Trust
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Resources Legacy Fund
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Santa Clara County Department of Public Health
The San Francisco Foundation

We would also like to thank the following law firms for their pro bono counsel:
Cooley Godward Kronish LLP
Fenwick & West LLP
Morrison & Foerster LLP
