Did this get on CASAA? Where else can it get traction from the vaping public?

As far as news agencies hearing by email, we really need to have an option for them to make contact with a 'representative' for an in-person or telephone interview. Otherwise it's faceless names and purely electronic communication.

Someone mentioned a news release...has that been covered? A news release properly disseminated gets a lot of views. There are professional agencies for this. I only know enough to be dangerous, having been in sales, marketing, and advertising for 35 years.

Standing by to blast...

Chak, most of those email addresses in that link bounced back when tested. :(
Well dang! I didn't think of putting it on my OWN Facebook wall!
Time to correct that oversight!

I was wondering when I saw the site, how long ago was this updated. I didn't see any mention of it anywhere on that page. A lot of those email addresses could have changed since then.

I have posted this to CASAA's Facebook pages. As we get closer to Thursday, I will be re-posting there.
I can mention to CASAA your concerns about having a representative available.
Thank you for your support! Every person counts! :)

I couldn't wait until the 19th, I was looking at the hot spots on the national map and reading articles where the American Cancer Society was against a ban because it didn't include taxes and restrictions that they feel e-cig's should have. I went to their website and emailed this message in support of personal vaporizers. The decision in Duluth is very frustrating to me and is picking a fight with non and former smokers where we are doing all we can to be tobacco free. I borrowed part of the language from the upcoming World vaping Day email. I Hope that's ok. We need more support for vaping so we can enjoy the only satisfying harm reduction product available today.

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.
I smoked cigarettes for 37 year and it has been 191 days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to 4768 cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $1490 that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.
I owe that to electronic cigarettes.
Publicly the drive for the last 10 years has been to get smokers to quit using tobacco, and now that we finally have a device that really works there has been nothing but criticism and misinformation reported by the news outlets, health officials, and anti-tobacco groups. I find it strange that these same groups would rather I continue to use tobacco instead of using a now proven and successful cessation device like e-cigarettes. I have tried all the approved cessation products and they never worked. The only thing they did was waist MY money.
With your drive to restrict the use of personal vaporizers nationally, I now question what your true motives are for the american people. It is obvious to me that you would rather bilk money from our pockets then truly offer or support a product that really does help smokers stop using tobacco.

Please stop attacking the only harm reduction product that keeps me tobacco free.

You would be better off posting that on their Facebook page where more people will hopefully see it before it gets deleted.
As it is, the only one that will see it is the one that receives it and shuffles it off to the circular filing cabinet.

I'd throw in a smiley face here to show I mean no offense...
But talking about what these folks are all about wipes the smile off my face before I can type out the symbol.

Not that I would discourage such an email in any way.
The more of them the better, no matter how they choose to handle them.

I'm sure I've sent one of my own sometime in the past.

That is a good point. Not exactly sure if I want to "like" their Facebook page considering how they attack us. I will consider it and let you know if i do.

I like it. As a cancer survivor, I question their motives also. This is an emotional subject because their policies affect lives. The organization carries a lot of public trust. I think that deserves to be called into question. I also like the fact you kept your letter to a few short paragraphs and focused the points you wanted to make. That makes it more readable and rememberable.

I think there's a valid point in posting to their FB page. I may do the same.
P.S. You can always "unlike" a page after your finished.

Do you know where to get an updated file? I used to see them floating around places like CJR but haven't run into one for awhile.

Done. I posted the exact same message to their Facebook page. The phone app won't let you post to their Facebook page and I didn't have to like their page to post my comment. I hope it helps our cause and they at least consider how their actions affect us all. Thank you for the support on this everyone.

I went over there and "liked" your comment. It might not be a bad idea to post our letters there on the 19th as well.

I'd like to see if they delete your post or not, and if so, how soon.

I posted it a couple of hours ago. If it's not there any longer then they must have deleted it. I'm sure they don't want any negative posts that would make them look bad. Jerks! Wallelf also commented on my post. I guess they didn't like what I had to say.

Robin, I'm working on a blog post about ideas for the day/week. Are you on the CASAA Skype group for active members yet? I'd like to team you up with someone to help me get something out on Monday, if you're willing?

New first post?????:

SAMPLE EMAIL:

Subject line: National & World Vaping Day, The E-cig Saved me from inhaling over 4000 chemicals.

It has been xxxxxxx days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to xxxxxx cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $xxxxx that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you:

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

The patches, gum and drugs have a dismal failure rate. Listen to the “man on the street” and you will find there are more of us that have quit smoking tobacco by using e-cigarettes than you think; we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. And that number grows every day.

....then continue on with a short paragraph about your personal journey.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Sincerely,

YOU

When the emails are posted, please put Your email address in the TO: line. Cut and paste the email addresses into the CC or BCC line.

So, does everyone like this?

I like it! I would change one thing, though. e-cigarettes to personal vaporizers (PVs) - I'd like to see the word 'cigarettes' NOT used by us when referring to vaping, because I don't smoke cigarettes in any form now - I vape.

and... what comes out my mouth is not SMOKE, but water vapor (similar to fog machines output), and not harmful to anyone.

NancyB (ya gotta weigh my remarks heavier today cuz it's my birthday - haha - [69 and counting])

My comment and one other are still there:

  • Buffy Groves 223 days, 11500 cigs not smoked, $3400 not paid to the tobacco companies...all because I switched to e-cigs. I agree with everything Stephen just said.
