I was thinking of buying a ecig for my uncle as a christmas present but not sure if its a good idea . He smokes analogs and sometimes black and milds . He is a paraplegic and doesnt get out much . i think he may like it however he doesnt have much money and it would be hard for him to buy supplies online . I could set him up with a e cig kit and some juice but im not sure what he can really do after it runs out . I dont see him very often to give him more juice and cartos so once the initial present is done it might go to waste . It would be good for him to use a ecig and maybe even like it but as much as i think about it i cant see him keeping up with it . What do you guys think ?

I would still do it.. Look at it this way: Even if he cuts out 10 cigarettes a week your helping him. If he cuts out 8, your helping him.. Even if he cuts out 4, your helping him. If he can afford cigarettes, e-liquid shouldn't be a problem. Worse case scenario, send a 10ML bottle of e-liquid ever so often as a gift!

The way I look at it, every little bit helps! I admire you for trying to help others! Best of luck!

It depends on the person you are considering this for a bit. My scenario is different but I'm gifting a kit to a friend of mine for Christmas too. He has expressed an interest, but isn't exactly committed to the idea either. So I'm low-balling the kit and only going with a basic 510 kit and 3 sample bottles. That will only set me back about 50 bucks.

If it gets someone started and they want to keep going I consider that 50 bucks well spent. If my buddy doesn't like it he knows he could either return it to me - since he already knows I'm hooked on vaping - or I would be just as happy if he passes it along to someone else to try if they show an interest. That's the way I see this going. But is is worth doing it? I really do believe so.

Go for it. My daughter gave me my first e cig for my birthday in July (a KGO kit) and I threw away the smokes (pack a day for 36 years) and never looked back. The gift she really gave me was better health and an extended life to enjoy her and my granddaughter. I am glad for folks like you and my daughter that want to help others.

One of the main issues i see is he doesnt have access to a computer to be able to buy supplies . My aunt usually buys him cigs . Hes not a heavy smoker though . He's usually in bed watching tv all day due to the pain he's always in . For the past 4-5 years i really only see him on holidays like christmas ,thanksgiving and 4th of july .

That does pose another few issues i can think of . Being that he's in his 60's and on pain meds i dont think if i told him what to get he'ed remember and he may be too lazy to want to call a vendor and ask for something he dont know as he doesnt have a computer to actually look things up . My aunt kind of wouldnt care to help him ,she really wont even make him food or help with other necessities . . The more i think about it ,it just sounds like a bad idea for a christmas present . I know it would be nice but since im not around him to show him and get him through the learning curve and he has nobody to really help him get supplies down the road plus a little on the lazy side it would probably go to waste . Maybe ill just let him try mine while im there and if he likes it and feels he can keep up with it, ill bring a spare ego and juices just in case that i could give him .

For someone primarily bedridden, a passthrough with 2A power supply might not be bad, net cost about $25.

Go the prefilled cartomizer route -- yes, it isn't the cheapest way, but it absolutely minimizes the fiddle factor.

V4L list price is $10 for a pack of 5 prefilled 808 cartos, and they run frequent sales. Where I live, NY, $10 is about the price of one pack of cigs, and even if you live somewhere where you can find them for $4, $10 represents 2-1/2 packs; a 5 pack of prefilled cartos should easily provide that much equivalent vaping. (V4L historically has done decent fills on cartos, I'd call them closer to 12 - 15 cigs' worth).

If when you visit he seems to be interested in it, based on trying your gear, the above is what I would do. I buy stuff for a couple of friends and relatives who aren't into the Internet, happy to do it if it keeps them off the cigs -- they just tell me when they need some more.

Tough call. I think prefilleds might be the way to go, at least at first. Sometimes people will make more effort as they get into it. Also, you or someone else could place the actual order and just have it shipped to his house. You'll have to figure out payment of course, but that might help him along if someone was willing to sort of be his guide.
