If you put that much metal in your tank (two 0.85 builds) your battery may strain to heat up that much metal. If you are going to use complicated, more mass builds, I'd suggest staying with one coil. I agree that a single round wire is probably the best choice, but you could also install ONE 0.45 build and be within a safe build with some headroom. You really want some if you are building on a mech.
If they are premade coils, you still should double check the resistance on an ohm's reader. I think you are describing your typical "coilmaster" type reader which needs an 18650 battery installed, and you screw the base of the tank onto the reader, unless you have something extremely odd. I do everything, including filling and "test vaping" on my ohm's reader.... I'd rather check everything there, and not leak all over one of my (far more expensive than a $12 ohms reader) mods. They are useful things to have, and yes you should use yours, to "check" resistance, to test fire and make sure ohm's aren't jumping around in case one of your coil legs is loose, etc. Put it on the mech once you are sure you have it running correctly, safely and stably built and etc.
Good luck,
Anna
