hi, i'm fairly new but have been able to do without analogs for a whole month now. i'm running into some problems - nothing as serious as to make me want to go out and buy cigarettes - and could use some help. i started out with the m401 and really enjoy vaping with the winston 24mg juice dripped right on the bridge. problem is i never get the same consistent results and do not have a manual battery or pass-through to burn my 2 atomizers clean. i also realized that i do not want to do a lot of maintenance. with that in mind i ordered an adapter for my m401 and tobacco-flavor cartomizers from good prophet. this has been disappointing. to get some vapor going you have to draw and draw and draw, and the taste is very dry. are the m401 batteries not suited for cartomizers? is there a difference in cartomizers? anything that would draw easy and compare to the winston from dekang? really would appreciate some advice!

The 401 was my first model as well. When they are working they are great but you need to 'fiddle' with them way too much. I would suggest that you order the KDR808D batteries and blank carts from vapor4life as your new hardware. The dekang juice can be purchased from many sources including, as I recall, vapor4life. You can also obtain that brand from healthcabin or eastmall. You can then fill the blank carts yourself and you'll have a unit that you should find much more satisfying.

thanks for your reply. i was hoping there might be some other alternatives since i got the smart pcc for my m401s and also really like the feel of the m401 in my hand. i have refilled some of the cartomizers with dekang juice but without much success. still dry, not much flavor and very hard to draw. will the cartomizers from vapor4life be that much different?

To me they were. I find the draw on the KR setup much easier. The assembled KR rig is larger than the 401 but you get accustomed to it pretty quickly. By the way there are numerous suppliers that carry the KR. I had good luck with vapor4life and Vapor Kings is also a great source. The other common 'move up' option that many like is the 510 which you can purchase from just about any supplier. The 510 carts and attys perform much better than your 401, the downside is poor battery life.

I'd stay away from cartomizers, because there is this nastly little problem here: Burned filling IIIIIIIVV (Seems like those new 510 cartomizers are affected, too. Greencigs don't seem to have that problem, as they are build differently.)

If you want to stay with your M40x, you will have to live with the fact that it is a very small PV, with short battery life and small carts and all that. I know a few people who enjoy theirs as a change from their main PV, but few use it as their only one, for reasons you have already found out.

If you are looking for a new PV, or just a second one, a 510 is pretty close in size to an M40x, only slightly larger, and cignot has a kit for I believe 35$, although you really should have a look at the eGo, too. It is wider, true, but battery life is unbeatable (unless you go for a mod).

If you are looking for something you can do yourself, you can stop looking – it's a design problem. You will occasionally find somebody who claims it's just user error, but far too many people who do know how to vape and know they did not vape them past any odd tastes (usually they didn't get it at all), or too dry, or too often, or too hot, or whatnot, reported those holes.

Greencigs have a different design, but are not availale in unfilled, and a bit more expensive.

Until those other cartos are filled with a different, burn-hole-proof filling, I'd just stay away from them.

well, alex, thanks a lot! i just returned from an excursion to the german ecig forums. your links IV and V took me by surprise but i enjoyed the detour nonetheless. unfortunately, on neither side of the atlantic is there a solution until the carts are redesigned. pity, since i would prefer a 2 piece any day.

Yeah, I was lazy when I made that list and put two in I already had; mind you, there are a lot more of those pics around here, too, and even more reports without pics.
Cartos never caught on in Germany, there isn't even one vendor I am aware of selling them. Those things came out, a few people brought a some from China, those pics were posted fairly quickly, and that was that.
BTW, if you happen to read German, you might find my homepage useful.

I do get along perfectly well with my 510, and I never quite understand why people think they are a hassle, but still, a 2-piece design would be nice on occasions, and particularly they would be excellent for some people I know who would really appreciate the throw-away concept, and who would very likely gladly pay for that much convenience.
