My original plan was to transfer my nicotine addiction from cigarettes to the safer e-cigs and then, eventually, try to quit the e-cigs as well.
However, I've grown so fond of vaping (a vape aficionada :vapor:, of sorts) that I would rather lower my nicotine level to 0mg and keep on vaping.

My question(s) to you NoNics is how tough was it to drop to 0mg? Would I likely experience the same severe withdrawal symptoms I did when trying to quit cigarettes? :( Did you go cold turkey and drop straight to 0? If it was a gradual lowering, how long did it take you to reach 0?

I am not there yet but I am headed there. I started at 18mg and dropped to 12mg over a weekend (just switched to all 12mg and vaped a bit extra to smooth the transition). You do lose TH. I think it's good to have good equipment you are satisfied with and some flavors you really like first, and to know that you can vape some juices with less TH and be satisfied. Then start dropping your nic. If you were real dependent on strong TH for satisfaction then that may make it harder to drop your level. It took me at least 6 weeks of vaping before I was able to vape some softer TH flavors and non-tobacco flavors and be comfortable and satisfied with those. That was when I knew I could drop my nic.

I am currently staging my drop to 6 which will be a bigger 50% drop. I may mix up some 9 out of my old 12 and do some 9 first. Not sure. I already bought my faves and some new juices in 6mg and 0mg. I ordered a couple more deep Plano boxes so I can box up my 12's. But I am confident I can do it. Even just being on 12mg instead of 18mg made my nicotine urges much less desperate. I can't wait to be on 6mg. And I hope to get to zero after that.

Best of luck to you in quitting the nicotine! :)

You'll be glad to know that you are already most of the way in breaking that addiction because...

quote:
"Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties. However, after coadministration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential. This is similar in effect to amphetamine.

Why? This chemical’s highly addictive properties have enslaved me cigarettes for 20+ years. I do not want my life to revolve around this addiction any longer. I wish to be free of it.

If you've beaten cigarettes, you can get to 0 nic vaping pretty easily. Just work your way down real quick, you won't have any problems. Good Luck!

It’ll be awhile before I try lowering my nic level. I have to make sure I kick the analog habit once and for all. Damn things.
It's hard to believe nicotine, by itself, is not particularly addictive. From the posts so far, that does seem to be the case.

Do you find that vaping at low or nonic levels decreases your vaping pleasure? I hope not, because I am really enjoying it.

Right now, the kids and wife are in bed and the house is dark and quiet. I have a good book in one hand and my PV in the other. My very first order from Backwoods Brew arrived today. I have vapor trails of applewood wafting around my head.

So good, so relaxing, such bliss!

This is great info. Now I have a lot of juice I may have to dilute or something in a week or so. Can you add the VG pr PG to a juice to dilute it?

HI Brett :)

Yes, you can dilute your juice with some plain PG or VG (and a little math) but you'll be diluting the flavor as well, there's the rub.

If you have a favorite flavor you can order it in zero mg nicotine and then use that to dilute your nicotined juice and thereby not lose any flavor.

If you add PG or VG to dilute eliquid you will cut the flavor too. I bought my favorite juices in 0 nicotine and will use each to cut the higher nic version. For cutting dessert flavors I don't vape as often I will just use a 0-nic berry flavor or 0-nic vanilla. Whatever I think will go well. For random tobaccos you could use a plain 0-nic tobacco juice.

If you don't mind diluting the flavor of your juices you could use PG or VG or both (VG cuts TH for a smoother vape and adds vapor and a bit of sweetness, PG would cut TH just by the amount of dilution). Check Madvapes for plain PG or VG or the same with no flavor and your choice of nicotine.

Thanks Rosa and dormouse. Cant say I have a favorite flavor yet. Matter of fact I was just looking over the pay it forward thread. Actually diluting the flavor of these that I have could make them better for me. I really would like a mild just a hint of flavor vape I think. Kind like the disposables I have been using. there was one that was clove that I really liked but it was very weak or mild. Oh man I have probably had more nicotine today than I have had in the last 3 weeks. I have a vaping headach. lol

Didnt mean to highjack this thread sorry about that

Absolutely, make sure you feel like you have the cigarette habit beat before you lower your nic level! You definitely don't want to go back to smoking! I think it's easy after you comfortably feel you wont go back to smoking again. I don't think it decreases the pleasure you get from vaping either, the only thing I've noticed is that I'm vaping a little more now that I'm at 0 nic.
