how would you expect these to work if used in a genesis atty?

they are marketted for mosquito repellent burners like these pictured (my air freshener's isn't ceramic), and also fragrance sticks, so I imagine similar materials also exhibit capillary action, but I don't know how fast they wick.

how would teflon coated mesh affect wicking and vaping? you would not burn this

we might be past the glass transition point of teflon which would be a bad thing.

the ceramic one looks interesting though.

I think Radie said he tried those.
I played around with one and gave up, poor heat transfer.
If you get it hot enough to vape the juice it stayed so hot that the juice just kinda boiled off.

What 'gummy' said, those sticks were discussed on the big thread w/ poor results. As for a production Genisis, we're still waiting on 'raidy's new one, he's on vacation now. It's not a Genisis per say but may end up in production; don't know yet.

Besides that, there are talks of co-ops but it's DIY...

What if rather than directly heating the porous ceramic you used the material they use in cartos around the coil. Kinda like the willpro13 design. That way you aren't depending on getting the ceramic hot but you can still use it to wick from a tank. I could see problems with thick liquids. I would think you would need something in between lava rock and that.

Be aware that PTFE(Teflon) starts to vaporize at 700 degrees. If you inhale those fumes you will rapidly increase the PTFE content in your blood and can come down with "Teflon Flu". I have written a few papers for school on this subject and worked in a company which used PTFE.

Yes, as in 'reservoir'. The APEX ALPHA ULTRAMAX. GrimmGreen just reviewed it and wasn't so thrilled with that part. The switch yes, but constant gurgling and 'glorified juice cup' don't speak well of it.

I tried to comment but as a new user I am not allowed I wanted to warn you about PTFE(Teflon) Flu. I have done a lot of work with PTFE in the past and even wrote a paper for school on this subject. If you heat PTFE above 700 degrees F the PTFE will start to vaporize. If you inhale the fumes you will start to build up the amount of PTFE in your blood and get a 3-4 day cold. If you could add this to your thread I dont want anyone to get sick.

While I don't actually know the temperatures that the coil reaches, I would not be surprised if it could in fact reach those high temps, especially high voltage users. I know it is a very different animal, but just think about this, the cherry of a cigarette reaches over 1000 degrees when you inhale.
