My comfort zone is software. While I can build a cascaded PID control loop on a micro-controller with my eyes shut, I only know enough electronics to be dangerous.

So could those with some electronics experience take a look at this and hazard a guess as to whether it would work?

The idea is that a micro-controller switches the FET at around 1kHz to maintain either a given voltage on the capacitor or a given current to the atomiser. Control will be weaker as the required current approaches the maximum current through the resistor, but it fails safe.
