Would You Be Concerned If.....

You had two new smoktech ego batts that won't show a voltage reading on one of those screw in voltage meters. Both of mine just erratically flash the 8's over and over. Never an actual reading. The meter works on every other batt I have. I am a little concerned there might be something wrong internally. Would anyone else be concerned?

They all do that. Most EGO style batteries will do the same thing with the cheapo meters. The only EGO style batteries I've been able to get a good reading off with that meter, are the Riva's.

Yeah except it keeps flashing erratically. Maybe I just don't know enough but it concerns me since every other batt I have gives me a reading. I do have an old ego. I'll try that and see it does the same thing. Be back after work. =)

I think it has to do with the way they regulate the voltage (PWM). If they work fine, you souldn't have a problem.

Can't find my old ego but I had to work later than I thought so will look again today.

Yea. If your gonna test a PWM regulated battery, you'll want something more like this:

It's not a fluke... but it gets the job done.
