I got a question about the ProVari. Can you safely use 30amp bats in it or should I buy another round of IMRs?

The full size Provari is designed for the AW IMR 18490 button top, the optional base cap allows you to use a AW IMR 18650. Using flat top IMR's with a button magnet will void your warranty.

My husband has bought 3 Vamos. All broke fairly quickly. I've had the same reliable Provari. How many more Vamos will he go through? Well none now because he has decided they are garbage, well his words were disposable garbage. One vamo lasted 2 months, the others were 3 1/2 months and 6 months.

You get what you pay for. If you want to have to replace it in maybe 2 months, or maybe you'll be luckier than my husband and get 8 months or longer. But 3 out 3 he bought didn't last over 6 months. I will stick with my Provari any day. It continues to work good as new.

I know what you are saying about the Vamo's. Mine lasted 5 1/2 months, now it scrolls a bunch of random pixels across the screen and won't fire any atomizer.

Thanks for the heads up. She's a V1 that's the better part of three years old, way beyond warranty. So I guess I can go on ahead. Been using the extension cap pretty much from the start too. Gotta love the 18650.

Using incorrect batteries in a ProVari is as silly as using the wrong gasoline in an engine...

Dunno, I know a few old school mechanics that favor dropping a touch of diesel in with the gasoline to help clean and lube a old gas engine on occasion. NEVER EVER put gasoline in a diesel though. Those same old school mechanics will be the first to tell you that. Gasoline burns way too hot for diesel applications at any mix ratio.

What's interesting to me is the Provari seems to have been in a class all of its own. And may well still be.

It has been in a certain mid-range price bracket with very little competition within that price range. It gets compared to mods that are less expensive and to mods that are more expensive. Recently a couple of worthy competitors have finally entered this mid-range class, namely the Semovar and another which I don't recall the name; yet they are so new on the scene that no one knows yet whether they share two of the main draws of the Provari - immediate and consistant availability and proven customer service after the sale.

There must be something to be said that two or three of these type of threads are started every week, and they always draw a large attendance and become long threads. No other device stimulates so much interest and such a passionate amount of opinion as does the Provari.

Would the name of the mod you dont recall happen to be the futura? Thats the only other in this class besides the semovar that i can think of.

The $5304 saved is BS.....I'm a mod .........I doubt I've saved a penny  ....but then again, saving money was never my first concern...quitting analogs was, so I think I can say "mission accomplished"...

And that was kind of my point... What is +- $179 for the cost of a Provari in the grand scheme vs a lifetime of Marlboro's? Not that much!

Absolutely...

My thing isn't that I'd choose one mod over the other...I'll eventually have them all...or at least till the little woman puts the brakes on me....lol

Hi everybody,

I am running a kayfun 3.1 with a Sigelei V.3 right now, a co-worker has a ProVari mini and the regular one. I see the feedback and all that, but is it really worth the triple amount of $$$?

Hit me with some feedback and let me know what you think please.

Thanks in advance also from ProVari owners.

So what I'm getting from this thread is - almost everyone who has a Provari thinks it was worth it, but almost everyone who would never buy one/has never owned one doesn't, often only on principle and not from having any actual experience with one. Draw your own conclusions from that. :)
I think that sums it up pretty neatly. Maybe we can stage a thumb-wrestling Battle Royale between the fanbois and the haterz so we can finally put all the animosity behind us.

How cool! I've been gone for a spell and I was a bit worried that all the folks who like to trash people for the devices they prefer may have left. Nice to see they're all still here....
To the OP.....I say yes its worth it. So much so, I've spent the extra money several times....they're a good investment. I could sell any one of them for nearly what I paid. Like Ocelot said, if you can afford one, you won't regret it. If you can't, thats ok too....plenty of great options nowadays.

PS...nice to see you Ocelot
