I've read here many times before that wow carts get really hot. I've brushed it off because it's not true for me - if they start being hot, that's when I toss them.
Out of curiosity, I decided to order 2 x regular length diamond batteries instead of my usual diamond shorties. I am very grateful that I also decided to order a couple of delrin drip tips too!

I could not believe the difference with the regular length batteries. No wonder people recommend the drip tips, the darned carts would be unusable without them. those things burn  Put the same cart on a shorty, no problems.

Drip tips? Another area of curiosity for me. Meh. Apart from saving my lips, I can live without them. Didn't give me more flavour, TH or vapour, that I could detect anyway.

I also wondered whether my assertion that 1 x shorty diamond charge = 1 x wow cart was correct, or whether I'd get more mileage from a regular diamond. Maybe, but not completely. I could taste a drop off in flavour well before the battery flashed, though no burnt taste. I think I'll continue to swap cart at the same time as battery.

Yeah, I think I'll stick with the Diamond Shorties from now on :vapor:

Katz....you're funny! Because I know how..mmmmmm...what are the words I'm looking for....strong you are in your convictions. So I am only going to say.....good for you!

If you were anyone else I would simply state that all batteries hold the same voltages and the size will never dictate the performance of the Cartos. But we both know that will mean nothing to you, you feel how you feel, and if those feelings fly in the face of scientific logic.....whatever!

:p

Why Snow sweetie, what are you saying? Scientific logic may not be my strong point, but I do have a lovely philosophy:
My truth is my truth. Your truth is your truth. Just because your truth is not my truth, doesn't make it untrue.

As I understand it, the difference is the longer battery works for longer before needing a recharge, so how long a carto lasts oughtn't be affected by battery length.

I guess what I meant is that when I switch to a fresh shorty battery, the carto usually tastes a bit burnt, so I change it too. Maybe it's because it was nearly run out anyway and the fresh battery being at higher voltage makes that really obvious. The reason I wanted to check is I consistently only get about .5ml in each carto when I refill - which says to me that I am not vaping them efficiently. If that's how it is for me, well I maybe have to just accept that I'm going to get through around 8 cartos a day and refill more often than others have to.

But if the science says there should be no difference in heat of the cartos, why would I experience such a big difference, consistent from carto to carto?

Is it just me? Although, I'm sort of getting the picture that maybe it is just me...

Ms. Katz being a fellow wow carto loyalist, can honestly tell you the only time I notice how hot they get is when they start to get low on juice. Being as your a fellow nuport wow addict, can also add that's why you're only getting .5ml on a refill unless you clean the carto. Did a number of tests trying to figure out why we were having the refill issue, the only constant has ben nw... When I pulled out the filler, it was still somewhat moist, but not enough to justify how little I was able to get in refilling... Upon further inspection it was a build up of carmelized nw juice in the filler.... Price we pay for the deliciousness.... :)

Thanks M'Dir. My refill issues happen immediately though. A blank takes +/-1 ml on it's first fill then on the first refill, the amount has dropped off. Would there be that build up from 1 fill?
If there is a caramelization happening, is that why I would get the burnt flavour when I switch to a fresh battery? I seem to recall reading that in one of your or Snow's threads.

I do experience the same issue with my 2:1 Wow Wowboy/Wowboy Peppermint blend though, have you noticed it with either of those?

It's a build up after one fill on the november batch if memory serves me correctly Ms. Katz (when I get on my comp can verify that). That could very well be why, that or the fact the carto is actually burned.

Haven't done a blend with the two, but have no issues what so ever out of the latest wowboy. What batch wowboy peppermint?

This actually makes sense to me, because I can re-use the cartos over & over, so clearly they aren't burnt. But then, does that mean I'd have to clean the cartos every time? That would be very inconvenient.

In the name of psuedo-science, I have sacrificed 8 cartos: 4 vaped on shorties then the regular diamond batts, 4 just on the shorty diamonds.

Of the 4 used on the regular length, the polyfill was dry, white & fresh looking - except for the singe marks & burn holes on 3 out of the 4.
Of the 4 used only on shorty batts, the polyfill was still drenched and brown with juice - 1 of them had a singe mark.

Only 1 out of the 8 (one of the shorty only cartos) had any apparent build up at the base.

Hmm, I said to myself; "Self, further investigation required". So I have filled two brand new cartos each with 1 ml of juice. One has been vaped out on a regular batt, the other will be vaped out on shorties - and I will swap to a fresh shorty when the first one flashes rather than swapping to a new cart like I usually do.

I plan to refill both cartos, noting how much juice they take, and repeat the exercise, then I'ill get back to you when I have finished and pulled them apart.
