This bill is just another example of how hypocritical our society is with regard to 'legal age'. At 18, one is considered adult enough to choose to join the military or police force (i.e., potentially be blown up and/or shot at), go into debt (risking future financial issues) and vote, but not make reasoned choices regarding use of legal controlled substances such as alcohol or tobacco. So, what does that say to our young adults? "We the people think you're adult enough to die on our behalf, continue to fund our banks and corp CEOs, and hopefully keep our politics status quo, but we don't think you're adult enough to choose to do for yourself any of the stuff we don't want you to do..." How is that a sane and reasonable way to treat our young adults?!

Poor woman dying from smoking at the ripe old age of 86. For a woman born in 1928, her life expectancy at birth was around 65 years. So, I'd say this lady has beat the odds by more than 20y in spite of a lifelong smoking habit starting before she was 21.

I propose legal smoking age be raised to 65. In that way one will live longer than the bad effects come into play.
