Good to know. For me I cant say for certain if its the nico that I am craving or just the the routine of putting a cig on my mouth. I cant help but think its just the routine. After I get the jist of it all, maybe il try it with 0 nico in a carto and just go for the routine thing.

~SOL

It's probably a bit of both -- but probably the ritual/routine more than anything. That's the hardest part of the addiction to break when you quit altogether, and is why vaping works so well, even for those going the 0nic route (although that route is harder). You can get rid of the nic addiction while still feeding the mental addiction to the ritual, or if sticking with nicotine, at least eliminate all the other crap you get from smokes.

Personally I don't feel a need to wean myself down to 0nic, at least not yet, so I'm quite happy where I am. However, my Provari is awaiting me at home finally, so I may find the higher voltage vape might make me want to cut down a bit. Plus my other JV shipment just arrived at the same time, so I'll have a lot of juices to review. We'll see this evening. :)

Mindfield, although having the ProVari is nice because it is variable voltage, I still only keep it around 3.7 volts but that's because i use a low resistant atomizer. Personal preference is nice with vaping, the hard part is getting to that point where you find something that works for you. The good thing with the ProVari is you can find that sweet spot without buying a bunch of different devices. You can just find an atomizer that works for you and set the ProVari to work with it. I think the price scares people a little, but I know that if something goes wrong with it, there is a warranty to back it up. Congrats on your new purchase, and as a word of advice just make sure you are using the batteries that are required to go along with the ProVari.

Thanks. :) That's why I bought the Provari. I was going to go with another mod or two at the time but then thought if I'm going to do it, I might as well do it right and get something that will let me adjust the experience to best suit the atty/carto and juice. If I have that I don't have much need for anything else because then it all comes down to what I attach to the Provari, and it's a lot cheaper experimenting with that. :) The price was a bit steep for me, sure, but I could have spent that much on other mdos anyway. At least this way it's sort of one-and-done.

I did order some AW 18650s with my Provari though, and I have a couple of spare flamejacket TrustFire 18650s at home too (got the extended cap to fit).

I'll probably be using it mostly at 3.7 as well because all of my cartos right now are LR. I have some 2.8-3.2 510 and eGo attys though that I use for dripping when previewing juices that I'll be able to drive higher though, and I'll be ordering a batch of 2.5ohm dual coils this weekend direct from SmokTech.

Mindfield, sounds like your ready to rock & roll, the other nice thing about the provari are the safety features, when you are experimenting on various atomizers and try to turn the voltage up to high, the screen will flash with a e2 error, now if you are accidentally reading your screen upside down it will look like a number so don't get nervous when your screen flashes and if you press the button and it wont fire because more then likely the voltage is to high for that atomizer and you just need to turn it down. also when your firing button starts flashing red that means your battery is getting low and you need to replace it soon, I am sure you will read the instructions, but seeing these two things happen even after reading the manual can make you nervous because the red flashes so bright. The AW high drain batteries are nice and at 3.7 volts I get about 12 hours of vaping, but that's pretty much constantly for 12 hours, so for a person who does not vape constantly it will probably last longer. Also I mostly use 1.8 ohm low resistant atomizers, if you like to drip you should look at smartvapes.com and their dripping atomizers, they are 5.00 a piece and they last me a long time with great taste. I think he also has them in 3 ohm but have not tried them. again, I am only a 2 month newbie so if anybody out there has any other advice I always like second opinions and for others who may have questions please respond because I absolutely love to talk about vaping, and have done alot of research in my 2 months of this awesome hobby.

Yeah, I did get a few E1s, E2s and E8s when I was rotating atomizers testing the new juices, but I have the manual printed out so it wasn't a big deal. The only slightly freaky part was when it just stopped doing anything altogether -- no screen, no errors, nothing. But after popping the battery out and back in again it was fine. Probably a bad atty. (The attys I'm using now are pretty old and well-used.)

But so far it's working like gangbusters. 4.2V on an EMDCC is pure sex. I've got to find a lanyard pouch or something for this though. It's almost too heavy for a shirt pocket. It keeps rubbing against my nipple, and while the Provari is sexy and all, that's my wife's job.

Welcome and well met, SOL. :)

Despite the recommendations you keep getting for the 510, I think you are on the right track going for the 808. As anyone here can tell you, the 510 gives a good throat hit, but tends to kill the juice flavor.

My favorite by far is the 901. Superb, flavorful atomizer that one is, but sounds to me like your needs lean more to the 808 for now. I would advice you to get that one from whatever vendor you please and try to get some CE2 cartomizers to go with it as well. The tubes in the CE2 tend to crack sometimes, but if you like fiddling with equipment, you'll find great joy in making them tank systems that will hold days worth of juice.

Also, the 808 batteries are fully compatible with 901 atomizers, should you want to try regular carts or direct dripping.

About the nic level, I started at 24mg, and that worked out great for me. Now I am slowly lowering down to 18mg.

Say hello to the wife. And on a related note, when mine tries to look into what I am posting here, I tell her to go make me a chicken pot pie. ECF is me time, dammit!

Allthough my Volt is not in my hands yet. It sounds like it uses an 808 style battery. If that is the case is there a tank I can hook to it that I can just fill with juice that will last a few days or so? The more iv been thinking about it the more I think these cartos will empty pretty fast. Then again maybe im thinking about it too much or too soon. I havnt bought any refill bottles yet of juice. I think the Volt I ordered came with a 5pack of cartos. Which sound like they may go in a few days if that.

So I my Volt came in a few hours ago. After giving it a shot I must say I think I can get used to it. The carto end gets a little warm on my lips at times. I was taking long/slow drags which I kinda think is why it was getting a little warm maybe. So now im taking semi short/slow drags and its a little better. I got the the 12mg/grape carto which I think is a bit strong for me at times coming from marlboro light 100's. Good vapor production overall I think. I only have the 5pack of 12mg grape cartos that came with the starter kit. Ima toy with a few other flavors and or strengths the next few that I order so I can find that sweet spot that just works for me.

I can vape in my house. Sweet. I dont have to go into my garage or outside anymore in the deadly hot humid texas summer heat to get my fix. :)

Thanks again everyone for the feedback,

Awesome, congrats! Yeah, they will get a little warm. The Volt comes with low resistance cartos so they're pulling more power from the battery to get warmer. However that generally helps to make the flavours pop and the throat hit a little more punchy. And of course hotter means more vapor. So, probably not best for chain vaping, but I definitely find that a warmer vape really brings out the best in most juices.

So it's been since about 2pm cst and my battery and carto are still going strong. I don't count how many hits I take or anything but how will I know when the carto is empty? I just want to avoid burning up the carto so I can refill them.

Thanks

~SOL

It'll start to taste funny. Either burned, skunky or something of that nature -- just not like what you should be tasting. You'll know it when it happens.

thats kinda what I was thinking. and since iv been puffing on this thing off and one since about 2pm this afternoon I was thinking that right about know I would be running low on my pack of analogs. so im looking for that funky taste.

all my cartos are grape. when I refill them do I have to refill them with grape? or is there some special way to clean the used carto for use with a new flavor?

If it's an "odd" flavour (i.e. a stand-alone or generally strong flavour, not a blend of more common flavours) then you're probably going to want to clean the carto out. I can tell you that with grape it's going to have to be rather thorough, so immersing in boiling water for a few minutes (with or without baking soda and/or vinegar) or rinsing first with vinegar, PGA or vodka, then thoroughly with water should get most if not all of the taste out. For milder or blendable flavours I often vape until it starts tasting off, then if I want to change flavours I'll often just fill with a complimentary flavour. (If I'm vaping chocolate, I might add caramel, for example.)

Well I finally found that Metallic taste of an empty carto. Ooooober YUK. lol. Come to find out I still had some juice left in my other cartos after all. I stopped puffing on them thinking they were empty when they were not done yet.

Come to find that now my vaping habits are a lot different than my smoking habits where. A single carto is lasting me about 2-3 days of vaping before I get that nasty metallic taste. I'm only puffing on it like once or twice every 30-60mins or when ever I think about it roughly. I only take like 1 or 2 drags then put it in my pocket and go about my business.

I am so trying to get all my smoking buddies to start vaping now. Way better for you and a lot less expensive.

Without this community and its resources I would be lost!

By the way. I tried the Toffle and YUK. My taste buds did not agree AT ALL. lol. But that im sure that is just me. Ima stick to sweet flavors.

Yeah, I think everyone develops new habits when they vape. You lose all your normal cues when you switch -- there's no lighting up, there's no going out, there's no "done" except when the battery dies. It just turned into an ad hoc thing here. Whenever I get the urge, I just pick up, take a few puffs, put it down. I end up going through about 3ml a day, which seems to be about average. You sound like you'll probably go through half that or less. :)

By the way. I tried the Toffle and YUK. My taste buds did not agree AT ALL. lol. But that im sure that is just me. Ima stick to sweet flavors.

From Vaperite? Or someone else? I loved Vaperite's. Still haven't found one as good. But of course everyone's tastebuds are different.

Welcome! I am new too : ) Lots of really nice folks here ready to help : )

Welcome to you too! This is indeed a great community. Best place around to get help, advice, more information than you'll ever be able to absorb, or even just a little support.
