Who is "people"? Some random idiot who complains? Or, the proprietor or manager of a restaurant or other public accommodation? Makes a big difference. If you insist on acting like you're smoking, the public will continue to equate ecigs with smoking. I've had many instances where some blue-hair .....es to me about vaping somewhere. 100% of the time, it's out of sheer ignorance and my acquiescence to their ignorant demands is doing the vaping community no favors. Rather it's just reinforcing their mis-perceptions. OTOH, I have yet to be prohibited from vaping somewhere after a 5 minute talk to a manager or owner.

THAT's the way to make vaping acceptable. Education. Not slinking around like you're doing something wrong. Not hiding. Not going outside and hanging out in the alley with the smokers. Not hiding it and not stuffing it away because some yahoo who knows exactly 0 about what vaping is looked at you askew or declared that you're smoking where you shouldn't be. Who gives them that right? They are not offended by what you're doing. They are offended by what they WRONGLY THINK you're doing. You have no obligation to cower to their misguided demands.

Would you leave a restaurant at the demand of some customer who accused you of being barefoot, if you were wearing transparent plastic shoes? What is the difference? Unless you are in a jurisdiction where vaping is covered under some indoor air act, there is no difference.

If you're not good at explaining things, hand them a card from CASAA, with a concise explanation of what ecigs are on the back. I keep a few in my wallet all the time.

This idea that vapers shouldn't vape in public falls right into the hands of ignorant people who advocate including ecigs in indoor smoking bans. The results are going on right before your eyes as state after state prohibits indoor vaping. People who hide their vaping have only themselves to blame for this. Thanks, you bunch of jellyfish.

People can be anyone. The self righteous attitude will only get us so far, and taking a self righteous attitude with anything is always wrong. Our mods produce vapor, period. That can be annoying to anyone. Is it necessarily bad for them to be around that vapor? Probably not. Can it be annoying to sit in a room filled with vapor? Yes. What you are doing IS affecting those around you, even aesthetically. If that really does bother someone, then it bothers them. Period. If they are bothered because they think it is cigarette smoke, explain it to them. If it still bothers: Stop. Jesus christ, this self entitlement of "I CAN DO WHAT I WANT BECAUSE IT'S NOT ILLEGAL!!!" is just down right silly.

Whatever you decide on needs to fit your life style, I started with an auto analog style, moved to another auto analog style that was zebra print with bright colored end caps to get people to stop looking at me funny, then moved to an eGo-c because the first and second ones just didn't cut it. The eGo works great for me, I was worried about the size and weird looks of it at first, but just like another user said, I adapted in about 5 seconds. I vape on the sales floor of my store, and since I have an auto batt, half the time it just hangs out of my mouth when both my hands are busy. I've never had a customer dramatically cough in my direction or make an complaint at all. On the other hand, my husband started with an analog style batt he picked up at a gas station and he loves it. For all the fussing I did when I bought my first kit, I just ordered my first mod, and it looks NOTHING like an analog. Get what will work for you, from what you're spending now on smokes, you can move up in kits whenever you want and still save money.

Education and information is the key. NO one should not just be flat out rude. No matter who's house, business, place you're in, their "house" their rules. However....rules can change with more information.

Now then about this auto/manual battery thing. I dunno I find myself using my auto's more than my manual devices a lot more even while at the computer. I may be the only person on the planet that "MOST" of the time prefers automatics and perhaps that's why I have not gotten the higher dollar mod yet. (I'm sure I will someday but have not yet) But yet, they sure do sell a lot of automatics it seems.

I do agree with the point if we want people to think it's NOT smoking, make it look different, however when you inhale "somthing" and exhale "something looking like smoke", it's by default harder. I have vaped in many places smoking is not allowed. "Mostly" after an explanation the answer has been oh...ok well go ahead then. Not always though. Quite frankly at least one time I've had to explain it's not gona go boom (in a place smoking was allowed) and this was my 5 Volt mod box with NO led and a big red button. (damned news crap).

Anyway we do have to fight for our freedom but don't need to be rude about it. If they say "no I don't want it here" then simply don't do it. I'm not saying COWER in the corner, explain, hand out info if you have it, but no reason to be an as* about it.

WOAH Didnt mean to start a war here. I ordered a volt with 2 battery's 1 for each scenario one white with red tip and silver with blue tip.

I started with a 510, and moved to an Ego 1100Mah. The 510 resembles a cig better but lasts only a couple of hours, and my Ego is good for a day and a half at least, and everything is interchangeable which is great. Either way I have spares just in case, and now I want MORE...
May not break even for a month or so, but my pile is growing every week.

Welcome to ECF, and to the wonderful world of vaping. And it truly is a wonderful world. I've been vaping for 2 years and there are still things which I have not yet tried...such as endless flavors of juice (i haven't even gotten around to Boba's yet ...dun worry, at some point in the near future you'll understand what I mean by that). Hell, I haven't even tried high voltage PVs as of yet.

A few things: firstly, be aware that when you first begin, you won't be able to taste vapor fully, it takes some time away from the cigs before the taste buds heal, and the tar coating inside your mouth dissipates. So, if you're not exactly bowled over by the flavor at first, don't write the experience off as being the best that vaping has to offer...it ain't! There's much more awaiting.

Secondly...I don't get into recommending hardware much to persons new to vaping, with one exception: I ALWAYS stress that a passthrough of some type is indispensable. There WILL come a time when, for whatever reason, you'll find yourself with no charged batts, and at that point you'll truly be thankful you have a passthrough. Additionally, a passthrough will more than pay for itself because it spares your portable batts hundreds (even thousands) of life-stealing charge cycles, over time. Your portables will last much longer, and also you'll be able to charge them all and have them all ready to go. The eGo passthrough battery recommended a few pages back is actually the one i suggest to newbies, simply because it is so versatile. Works great as passthrough AND as a portable batt if needed. Unplug and go. And don't worry about conpatability, you can either use an adaptor as mentioned, or just grab some 510/eGo carts along with your other stuff...cost is negligible for cartos. I'd actually suggest some huge cartos for at-home vaping, fill-n-forget. Dripping is also a great at-home option.

Again, welcome and wish you the best of successes in kicking the nasty analogs. You'll have fun, i can pretty much guarantee it

A friend started with a v2, and I got to try it. It had nice flavor and vapor production. I liked it for what it was, but these days I'm building my own 5 volt pucks. My friend was also looking for bigger and better after about 3 months with it.

Thanks everyone got my volt saturday and am very happy with it. As mentioned I have not really adjusted to the flavor yet but it has kept me from smoking analogs since I got it even though its not as pleasurable atleast not yet. I do plan on buying a pass through soon I just want to make sure it is going to work for me. If I stay off I will save enough to buy 10 pass throughs and 5 pv's so I plan on expanding my collection. I really appreciate everyone's help. I also have to mention that smokeless Image is an amazing company I needed to change my order and had issues with hardware both issues were addressed immediately and taken care of. Really a great company with superior customer service.

I'm really glad to hear that you're happy with it. Flavor is always a tricky thing and finding that perfect "go to" liquid is a challenge for almost every vaper. I have a few favorites now, but every once in awhile, I'll pick up some sample packs from a few vendors I haven't tried yet just to see how they are.

Remember also that your tastebuds took a beating from smoking and will take time to recover. What you dislike today could be your favorite in a month. Drinking a lot of water will help with this as you'll stay hydrated and it'll flush the toxins from smoking out of your system more quickly.

I dont want 10 LOL. Saying that even if I ended up buying 10 pv's and 10 passthrough's I would still be saving money. I dont know how to put a bannner in my signature line I am new to the forum thing I got one just dont know how to put it in the sig. Anyway have been analog free since saturday when I recived it. Yes I have had a few cravings but even my girl see's the difference from when I tried to quit in the past. She says I am a lot less irritable and nasty. Plus I have already saved $40 I should have ordered sooner instead I wasted time researching it will have paid for itself bye thursday.
