I don't have 5 posts yet and can't reply anywhere else but here, so I'm trying to get there. I've got to say, I read a lot of hand wringing here about the future of vaping and how horrible it is that politicians and big tobacco and pharma are out to kill vaping. Rather than fearing and feeling victimized, I say write your representatives and media often. Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't, but I have to think that the volume of mail our representatives and media get on a subject captures their attention. Maybe not your individual email or letter, but the volume they get for or against. Its easy to google "contact my representatives" and get a nice form to write a pro vaping letter sharing your experiences and telling them how important vaping is to public health and educating them on your personal experience. I do it in Word and just copy and paste into their forms. Democrats seem to want to improve public health. Republicans seem to want to eliminate unnecessary regulation. Media, God knows what they want? Ratings? Sensationalism? Appealing to your lowest instincts? They just spout what they are told. Sure they are all interested in money, but I think some of them actually want to do the right thing on occasion. They have in the past. Educate them. Give them a nudge. A lot of the things they get away with are just because no one is paying attention and no one is squawking about it.

There's actually a formula reps use. 1 constituent in the office=3 phone calls=10 letters=100 emails. Those aren't exact numbers, but just there to give you an idea

Really want to have an impact? Organize a "Vape Lobby Day", and actually corner your legiscritters in their lair. That's a ;large part of how the NRA and ABATE get what they want

I got a personalized response from my state senator as follows:

Chris,

I appreciate your perspective, and thoughts. I will keep this mind in any future legislation regarding the use or lack of E cigarettes. Your perspective was enlightening, and we thank you for that. If there is anything else we can assist you with, feel free to contact any of my staff. Thank you.
