i just changed to a new atty, and was about to take that first, great hit right after all the priming and whatnot was over when all of a sudden i notice it is stupid hot in my hand and hissing like a steam engine. i thought the button was just stuck or something (wouldnt be the first time but it has been awhile since the button last got stuck) but it kept going after the safety should have turned it off. and now it wont charge up, all i can get is the button to flash like the battery is dead. when i put in the USB cable the end glows like it is charging but it stops after a few seconds and does not get charged, tried different cable, usb port, used 2 different USB to outlet thingies not on the computer all with no resuscitation.

anything i can do or has my friend shed its mortal coil? I sure hope not, i am presently unemployed and about to leave for vacation (long story) so i dont really have any money to get a new PV.

i am not using LR, tried them before but not for months, but the atty was being a bit wonky trying to screw it in, it was a brand new atty and all i got out of it was a few test vapes to make sure it was primed.

well ...., i figured it was shot but i guess now it is official: RIP my loyal companion.

EDIT: how exactly would i test an atty to make sure it wont screw up another battery?

A resistance test is the best way. But very few "new" ones are shorted.

The insulator in the atty and in the ego connector can be visually examined. A crushed insulator can cause a short.

I know you might not like to hear that your ego is most likely dead, but it is a fairly reliable e-cig, so don't give up on the model.

In the future, try to eliminate any "single point failures". Have spares. Think of a new eGo battery (900mah for less than $20) as about 3 packs of cigarettes you didn't have to buy. Having just one, or 1 or 2 attys is scary :)

You mean the battery got hot and hissing in your hands? Luckily it didn't go thermal and blew up man. I would dump that atty too if it happens to me.

Like what Rocketman said, use a multimeter to test the resistance if you feel that the atty might still be good.

I once threw away a xpower batt because it went extraordinary hot after charging. Better be safe than sorry.

Egos are unreliable.... . Get a job

Dude, you're a real winner... NOT!

First off, I have used eGo batts for over six months, most of which has been with 1.5Ω dual coils cartos. I've only lost one batt and that one I bought used on the classifieds. It was at least nine months old. So you get a bad one and then spout unsubstantiated spoo...

Your last sentence really puts you in a different classification from most of those on the ECF!

Well king greg,
If someone wants to spend the bucks on a Darwin, a Reo Grand, and a Provari that's fine.
(you have all three, right?)
Ever had any trouble with those expensive mods?

Money won't fix everything. A lot of people have good luck with eGos, and at $15 to $20 a battery that's not all that much more than putting AW cells in your stack battery mods.

But I do agree with you on not having only one. You never want a single point failure to put you back on tobacco.

In fact, if one fails, you don't want to only have one while waiting for a replacement.

Unless of course you have the ability to make your own. Then it's no sweat :)

Yeah, the bottom line is the OP was asking for information as to whether or not he would be able to revive the existing battery. So Rather than bust his chops because you have everything in this world you ever wanted and more why not try being a little more constructive like the rest of us have been and just offer some insight, but if you don't have anything USEFUL to offer then just stay out of the convo King Greg because you are doing nothing but derailing the thread for Mr. Quakums.

My Offer still Stands, 2 650 Green Ego-T Batteries with 510 connection, 2 510 atty's, 2 Dual Coil SS XL 510 Cartomisers 2.0 Ohm. I will send them out when and if you decide to accept the offer Mr. Quackums.

Wishing you the best;
Nate aka Darth Vapor

Wow! Dude, I don't know or care who you are but that is as harsh and unconstructive a comment as I've ever seen here. Not only is it an uninformed rant against a good PV, more importantly, it is mean-spirited. Last phrase puts it in Epic DB category.

So many people stepping up to really help mr. quackums and this is all you got? FAIL
