Thanks Caesarea, Walrus and Igetcha join the list of nominees. I appreciate you nominating me, thanks but I'm not going to be on the list :)

It's a great list Wiz, I agree. What I was thinking is that although it would be nice to give everyone a trophy that would reduce the value of the award. I'm not really sure but I guess maybe choosing something like the top three to honour for the year might make them more special. What do you think?

One more nomination required please ... anyone got anybody in mind?

EDIT
Oops, you were posting while I was typing. We can't fit both Rita and Mage in a poll, we need to somehow choose one.

Kate.........there always has to be a Definetive winner IMO.....but this is YOUR baby here.....you surley could have two runners up thats for certain. I would certainly like to do an(out of group) ECF Hall of Fame at some future point...where the decided winner(s) have a permenant place in forum history!..many of those mentioned here(if not all) would be considered for sure.......as far as choosing between Rita and lordmage goes...I cannot make that call openly...up to you Holy lady!:)The Wiz!

These are the names of people who made it onto the list:

Leaford
Tropical Bob
Terraphon
Dusty/Ratindahat
Sun Vaporer
SurbitonPete
Taukimada
Spikey
LaceyUnderall
SambucaLu
SmokeyJoe
Pillbox38
Walrus
Igetcha

That's fourteen. I was going to allow fifteen but LordMage and Ritalee76 were submitted together and there's no way to choose between them. Trog would also be on the list if there was room. Sorry to those three but I've decided to stop at fourteen to make it fair.

No more nominations please.

Thanks to all the people who nominated ... your work isn't over yet though. I'd like you all to write a short paragraph about why your nominee deserves a WTF Foggy please. Once we have testimonies in then we'll have a vote and I think the top three can be the winners.

So ... if you nominated someone here get writing why. Thanks.

Relevant threads: Replacing cartridge wool
And Kudos to SurbitonPete!!!!

It all started 04-04-2009, 10:38 AM with Tarzan’s heartfelt cry: AHHeeeAHHeeeAHHHH!
AHHeeeAHHeeeAHHHH!

“Oh, hi there.

After a while the wool in my cartridges seems to lose its fluffiness and that stops the liquid from flowing through it easily. It'd be nice not to have to keep buying new empty cartridges, so is there anything you can replace the wool with once it stops working?”

04-04-2009, 10:52 AM Surbiton Pete to the rescue: “There are many things people have found work great as a substitute for the filler ...just lately I have been experimenting with very loosely rolling up a piece of kitchen paper towel to just fit easily into the cart and trimming it to the length of the cart. After some trial and error I have found it seems to work great if you make sure it isn't too tightly rolled or packed into the cart.

I am trying to get away from using any polyester fibre because I am convinced it gets onto the coil and I don't want any chance of inhaling the fumes from polyester.”

04-04-2009, 10:01 PM ONLY Twelve hours later SurbitonPete has a Eureka moment. “Here is another Idea I am experimenting with tonight...I have taken a TEA BAG! cut it in half...to remove the tea......rolled up 'one' half inserted the 'tube' into my penstyle cartridge, trimmed the length and filled it with juice ....it took a suprising amount of juice to fill it but none of it poured out if I held it upside down or laid on its side.....and this is actually working quite well so far......the thing with the paper towel is that it does end up getting a bit mushy if you keep on drip refilling it....but the tea bag is made of hemp as far as I know and should last for quite a few refills. At the moment this seems possibly even better than the paper towel!”

“Final update 04-08-2009, 12:16 PM .....the tea bag method of cart filling material 'is' better than the paper towel and is what I shall be sticking with.”

“That's the beauty of the tea bag....it 'doesn't' go mushy!!!!!!!! it can even be washed and it doesn't wick poorly at all.”

Deny had the last word!
“The tea bag method is you make tea and then you smoke your e-cig.... hahaha just kidding

First you get a tea bag for example liptons tea and you cut the top part with the staple and remove all its tea leaves.
Then you cut the tea bag about 2/3 or 1/2 depending on the cartridges you use and roll it. (You have to test here which amount is good as too much tea bag or too little would give you poor vapor)
Once rolled you insert it in the cartridge instead of the wool and cut the extra parts.
Then you drip your eliquid in the cartridge and Voila.

P.S. you can take it out and clean it with warm water and use it for other flavors.”

Loads of guys posted their thanks in elegant style : e.g. Saboteur:
“Who'd a guessed something as simple as a friggin' teabag would be so effortless and work so well. Kudos to whoever came up with this marvelous refill solution! “

For more praise, see the thread Kudos to SurbitonPete!!!!

For a fast, cheap, safer and easy invention for time-poor, money-poor, risk-averse vapers, I have no hesitation in nominating SURBITON PETE.
TEABAGS RULE!!!

AHHeeeAHHeeeAHHHH! AHHeeeAHHeeeAHHHH!

PS I have no idea how to quote threads with hotlinking -- heeelp!

I'm really not very good at this but since I nominated Leaford first I should say why.

Leaford has been around forever providing guidance and advice. He is very knowledgeable and always willing to help when people ask him about hardware or issues.

Leaford also has a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. He makes an effort to make sure his advice is transparent and as objective as possible.

He's a Pied Piper of vaping, many people discovered the joys of vaping because of him and he makes a fine ambassador.

Of course I'm a noob so Walrus has only crossed my horizon recently – but somehow always in Epic Contexts. For example Smoke Ring Blowing tutorials, or 35 years’ Drumming.
Then one day Shimmy had challenged Walrus to vape horseradish and the Mad Vaper was up for that – kinda brave! “What doesn't kill me makes me stronger... and if it kills me it saves me money in the long run.”

Walrus put up a poll to see if he should sell his own potions. Result so far 76% in favour.
Nicowolf had a flashback to Hogwarts Village “Bertie Botts' Every Flavor Beans. Hmmmm, Blue Walrus' Every Flavor Juice?”
Vicks Vap-oh-yeah dreamt up Gourmet Niquids by the Mad Vaporer.

Walrus wrote : "Flavors would include:

ChocoBeer
Peppermint Mocha
Strawberry Cheesecake
Chocolate Cheesecake
Boston Creme Pie
Coffee & Cream
Root Beer Float
Chocolate-covered Strawberries
Heath Bar
Kickin' Thin Mint
Strawberries & Creme
Pralines & Cream
And anything else I come up with.
So... what thinkest thou?"

For example:
New home spun recipes...

Chocolate-covered Strawberries

40% Glycerine
40% Totally Wicked 36mg Chocolate (unflavored will work as well, I was almost out)
10% Lorann's Chocolate
10% Lorann's Strawberry
Yumm! I love this stuff

Well, thou ceased thinking and began salivating.

Walrus has a true chef’s flair.
And the temperament it seems:
“I'm still not completely sold on the idea. As I said, I'm not about mass producing. I may be selective about initial clientele, as well.”
All the best chefs do that.
And Walrus is a sceptic re human goodness as the motto reveals:
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Through the link is the Laboratory. But not being a chef and only clientele, I keep outa the kitchen and leave it to chefs to click on it.

It's an honour to propose Walrus for a WTF Award. Look at those recipes! :p

I blush to confess that Igetcha was the first person I ever saw vaping.

This was on his Youtube pages:

YouTube - igetcha69's Channel

where you will find 23 Videos, Reviews and Tutorials about Vaping. yes 23!

The content was explained straightforwardly enough not to be off-putting and clearly enough not to mislead. Essential viewing.
Believe me, if you don’t yet know or have forgotten, the learning curve for those new to vaping is incredibly steep, unless there is an Igetcha to help you visualise what is involved.

Igetcha cares about campaigning too – I have a lot of respect for the forum members who are going to do their damnedest to save vaping from the steamroller of government decision-making.

Igetcha will be the first point of contact for many other people wandering through the virtual cosmos looking for information about vaping. He drew my attention at once with those 23 videos.

So I am very honoured to propose Igetcha for a WTF Foggy 2009.

If I have made ignorant/naive errors or unwittingly miffed anyone, please forgive me - it's mighty hard to give testimonials for folks who have been in the forum for so much longer than oneself!

And now for some nic - my reward for several hours of zero nic - never noticed the difference, but maybe nic still carries a vague connotation of reward....

Smokey Joe - who had the insight to set up a forum with the potential to become a real important forum - and it did become just that, also thanks to the respectful and light way in which SJ wanted to see it moderated.

Many members are helping Joe to upkeep the forum - but Joe is the only one taking the risk of losing a LOT of money if anything goes wrong here.

Without Joe we probably would never have known each other, or any of the nominees for that matter. He has taken decisions, making it possible for this forum to prosper, that were in fact pretty courageous given the scope this has become meanwhile - and I think he deserves our, and probably all e-smokers' anywhere, respect and gratitude for doing this.
