Hello, I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out in troubleshooting/fixing my box mod.
Recently I have been having problems with it not firing intermittently. My original assumption was that the momentary switch was faulty, however after removing it and testing it with a multi-meter that is not the case.
After I discovered that it is not the switch I have narrowed it down to two potential problems. Either the chip is bad or going bad, or the potentiometer is faulty/going out.
If you are not familiar, the "Wulf Hell Hound" it is a regulated dual 18650 in series box mod. According to the website I got it from it uses a "proprietary chip similar to the Raptor chip." The potentiometer regulates the voltage. (obviously)
Here is what I have noticed. When I press the fire button, 7 times out of 10 it does not fire. Sometimes when it does fire it is for a very brief time where the coils seem to get much hotter than they have in the past and then stops firing even with the button still held down. I use a deadmodz glass top rda, and the glass usually stays cool when vaping, now it's getting hot, very hot.
In the name of science I decided to hold down the fire button while the mod was refusing to fire, and at the same time turn the potentiometer. Much to my surprise, it fired. It will continue to fire as long as I am adjusting the potentiometer, however when I stop turning it the mod stops firing.
This is a consistent result every time. If it fails to fire and I release the button, and then adjust the potentiometer, then try to fire again it does not fire. Only when the fire button is being held and the potentiometer is adjusted simultaneously does it fire consistently.
Here is all information that you may find relevant to my situation
So now my questions are:
Any ideas as to what is going on with my mod?
How could I troubleshoot further?
Can you instruct me on methods to troubleshoot the chip using a multi-meter?
If there is any information that would help you help me please let me know and I will provide it as best as I can. I really like this mod and don't want to have to scrap it.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Here is all information that you may find relevant to my situation
- I always run dual coil builds at .8 ohm,
- Recommended lowest resistance is 0.3 Ohm, but will fire down to 0.1 Ohms
- I rotate between 3 different pairs of batteries, so I know the batteries are fine
- I have dropped my mod 1 time about 2 months ago, where it landed on concrete pretty hard. However I didn't experience any problems with it until the past few weeks.
- I have tested it with my other RDA's and I have the same problem.
- I have rebuilt the coils 3 times since this has been happening and I am always very careful about short circuits.
