I bought a pack from HealthCabin on sale at $7.49/5 pack. I threw out all my CE2s eight months ago, swearing that I would never again by any carto that needs major modifications before working, leaks like a sieve, and never achieves any consistent or reliable performance. Earlier this month I saw the Micromizer X7s at Health Cabin. No rope wicks, bottom coil, easy fill (no syringe necessary, just drip
juice into the tube shell between the the center draw tube and the inner wall of the shell), no stupid tiny fill plug that was on CE3 Smokymizers. So, I took a chance.
First one out of the box leaked out all the
juice right through the 510 connection hole right after filling. I threw it out in disgust. Second and third ones worked great---terrific flavor (just like atty dripping), huge vapor, good throat hit, draw was a little airy but not too bad---but both of those leaked completely on the second filling. I think I discovered the problem, however. If you put a drip tip on the top and push it down a little too hard, the drip tip base pushes down on the center air tube, which forces the outer shell up off the connector by about 1/32". Not enough to really see, but enough to mess with the seal. If that happens, all the
juice will leak out from around the connector. After pushing down hard on the outer shells (making sure they're perfectly flush with the connector's base), I've had no more leaks---so far.
Micromizer X7s are 2.5 ohms resistance with dual blue LEDS inside the tubes that light up when they fire. Sounds stupid, but it's kind of cool, especially to confirm that they're firing. They're the same XL length and made with the same unbreakable polycarbonate thicker outer tubes as Ultimate CE2 XL Clearomizers. They hold 1.8ml of liquid. Like most of MicroCig/Royal Smoker's fillerless cartos, Micromizers don't work well at high voltage. They're terrific at 3.7V-4.4 volts. Above that, however, a nasty burning plastic smell starts to permeate the juice flavor. I'm running two of them on unregulated eGo clone batts (4.2 volts when freshly charged) and two others on 18650 tube mods powered by the special 4.8V nimh batteries, which start off at 5.2 volts fresh off the charger. Those particular batteries provide less amp output than most high-voltage devices, so even though they exceed the normal maximum voltage for clean flavor with no burning, they work beautifully with the Micromizers. Those are an exception, though. Can't use Micromizers with 5V regulated boxes, tube mods with stacked batteries at 6V, or VVs cranked up.
One note: Health Cabin states that "regular 510 drip tips" work with these. No, they don't. The bottom hole in most 510 drip tips is too small for the center draw tube inside the Micromizer (which comes right to the top of the outer shell, and the drip tips won't go down to lock in place. With an enlarged bottom hole, they'd go on fine, but that would require a power drill, a sharp bit, and a vise. I tried drilling out a standard 510 drip tip, and it didn't work. The delrin plastic is too hard for most bits, and then the drip tip cracks.
Workaround: Health Cabin sells soft rubbery 510 drip tips made of silica gel. I happened to have a bunch of those already. The bottom hole in these softer drip tips is more than large enough to fit over the inner draw tube.
I've got four more 5-packs on order from HealthCabin at the sale price ($7.49 per pack). I hope I'm not sorry later.
