Just ordered, looking for opinions. Looking to micro coil so I bought the lesser dimension ceramic wick... Any one know the dimensions on the xc132? I know this place is big on cotton, just looking for something that won't burn so easy lol

Anyone have success stories? Horror stories? Anyone like it better? Is it too wide a diameter for true micro coil?

Thank you reonauts!
Tim

The way I understood it, 116 is 1/16in and 132 is 1/32in. I've used it in genesis type atomizers and I really like the taste of it and it lasts forever.

it's hollow and the 1/16 & 1/32 are the inside diameter.

some people can thread 132 into a coil wrapped on 1 1/16" bit, but i had to try a 5/64 bit.

Crap... Looks like that's true...ugh I only got a foot and now I'm gonna be doubling it over I guess for my 1/16 diameter coils...

Noooooo! You need not double it!
I used to use a 1/16' drill bit to wrap a micro coil and insert cotton wick. I now use the xc132 and a microcoil. The XC is hollow so instead of using a drill bit to wrap coil then trying to thread thru the xc wick simply take the XC and slide a paperclip or needle INSIDE the xc for stability then wrap your coil around the xc with needle inside. Use a clip or needle that WILL NOT stretch the inner diameter of the XC!! I use a hex key that I got with my old Hornet RBA. Then mount to your RM2 atty then slide out needle. The xc will stay in place. It will come out the same as wrapping a 1/16" drill bit. It's too difficult to try and slide in the xc into the coil like you do cotton wick.
I use 6 wraps of 30g wire around the xc with needle inside and comes out to 1.23 ohms same as 7 wraps around a 1/16" drill bit.

By the way - one of these xc/coil setups will last me a good 3 weeks to a month without a decline in performance or taste. Just dryburn every other day or so. The XC will not fall apart or burn!!

Yea I was reading some of pdib's posts concerning the outer diameter on the 1/32.... Glad I made the right choice. Can't wait to get my new toys in the mail! :) I gotta change my cotton wick already :( lol once I got it situated, it's yummy, but definitely looking forward to a more lasting vape. Surely, re wicking takes no time at all. But my hands get juicy and it's not always convenient to look like a mad electrical engineer :)

Just did this exact thing yesterday. 9 wraps of 28g came out to 1.3 ohms. Works great. Awesome vapor!

My limited experience with the stuff in a reo, was that it didn't retain a lot of juice. I had to resquonk after pretty much every pull. Trying that stuff is what got me on cotton. Good luck!

but, yeah, xc-132 fits perfectly inside a 1/16"ID coil. I also just wet the tip and corkscrew it in until it got started and then it just slides right in.

ok gang where do you get the XC… ? btw there's a lot of XS which is silica nextel sleeve, vs XC ceramic nextel, a lot more durable, harder to find in my experience, and that said don't count out the XS…

I'd of thought use the pin/post idea: slide it inside the sleeve and then wrap, i'd hate to see too much wiggle room in that coil but if Dibby says no need, no need…

and oh yeah, theres also eko wool and twik (cotton cored or even silica eko sleeves) all in various sizes.
I thought i'd never see the day micro coil (cotton puff) guys are doing this…. tsk tsk.

I like the XC132 in my Cyclones with the tail flooded. I didn't have as good results with it in the RM2. To be fair though I cut it short in the RM2 lie I would cotton wicks. I do a micro coi n 1/16" bit and the 132 slides in easily, a little too much actually. I stick something oversized in the end to fray it open and then pull the fat spot into the coil. The other leg I make long and wrap around the post and it stays wet in the Cyclone because of the high juice hole. It's my favorite setup for Boba's, still have to dry burn it every day or two. The solids in Boba's make it to the coil with XC instead of being filtered out like cotton seems to do. The juice really tastes different between the two wicks and I prefer Boba's with the XC wick. I tried wrapping a micro coil around XC with a paper clip in it but couldn't get a good coil built, there's no heating it to glow and squeezing it together like I normally do. If you want a standard coil it wil work but really hard to get a micro like that for me.

Some good info here. Thanks all! Both purchases are showing as shipped, so hopefully by Tuesday of next week I'll be playing :)

From what I read, I'm thinking of starting with slightly longer tails pushed between the posts and under the coils on a 12 wrap 28 ga micro ( should ohm out at 1.5 or thereabouts I believe? Never used this low, but the 7 wrap on my 30 is getting me to 1.49) and if I'm having issues I'll cut one tail at a time and reevaluate... Ooh I can't wait :) do wish I had picked up more than a foot though! Lol

a foot is plenty for one micro coil in a small atomizer … and xc lasts a long time; can be dry burned over and over. its ceramic.

on another note i'm having feeding issues… with sub ohms you got to keep that wick wet, and the coil situated just right…i guess i'll start a different thread lol. but coil positioning, wick material and volume is crucial too… but thats sub ohms.
