OK, maybe I am a nudnick, but I would *really* like to know...
I was doing some experimenting before I burned my lips. I wanted to know how many puffs per drop I get with different carts (rounds vs. flat tips) and with different fillers (standard poly vs PTB).
I got this far and got very confused:
I took a new flat-tip cart with poly fill. Filled it by simple dropping (no paper clips or anything). 10 drops exactly. I got 33 good drags out of it. Then vapor petered out, and the atty started smelling a bit. I waited 5 mins, tried again - same thing. So that's how I figured it was time to top off.
As an aside, I was trying to emulate my normal way of smoking. I get about ten to twelve drags out of an analog, drags being between 10 and 20 secs apart, and not too huge. (this is my "relaxed" method of smoking, when I am stressed I go much, much quicker - thus my burnt lips, I think, but I digress). Anyway, I was able to emulate that fairly easily with my 510 without even getting the atty hot. After 10 to 12 drags, I wait at least 5 minutes, then go on.
So: initial 10 drops on the new cart = 33 puffs, or about 3 cigs.
I topped off with exactly 4 drops, waited about 5 minutes, and continued.
Now it got interesting. I was able to get 65 puffs out before vapor started diminishing.
So, after topping off: 4 drops = 65 puffs, or about 6 cigs? How come? What am I missing here?
Parenthetically, I could certainly fill it up initially with more than 10 drops, and could have topped off with more than 4 drops - I'm simply being paranoid about overfilling and getting juice in my mouth. I have sensitive skin, apparently.
Now, I realize that the exact amount of puffs per drop depends on how people vape, what they vape, etc. I was just trying to estimate numbers for myself. But how come I got more out of topping off than out of the original fill?
Thanks and cheers,
Briar.
