I wanted to ask the Pros a question. I currently have a spinner 2 with aero tank t35. Very basic setup and I love it. But now I'm ready for the next step. I was going to jump into a Provari because of all the great reviews on its quality. But is the protovaporr Xpv dna 40 a serious contender to the Provari. Should I take a look at it. I just want quality and a good product.

I have owned a Provari v2.5 and it is a rock solid device with an incredible warranty.Provape may be one of the best companies to purchase a mod from if you are considering customer service as a high selling point. I have never owned a Protovapor device but I have heard that they are great at customer service as well. I think your decision comes down to what you are looking for in a device. 20 watts vs 40 watts is really your biggest dilemma. What type of atomizer are you going to use? I think 20 watts is a good starting point when getting into rebuildables as well as using Kanger/Aspire type atomizers. The nice thing about the DNA 30/40 watt devices is the ability to experiment with warmer vapes and higher wattage builds. Not sure if thats something you are interested in.

My opinion would be to grab a used Provari v2.5 from the classifieds. Get one that has a 18650 extension cap so you can get some good battery life. These hold their value quite well and will be easy to recoup your purchase price if you buy used. Get an Aspire tank and some BVC coils and go from there...

I own two XPV's (a 30 and a 40) and two Provaris (a V2 and a P3).

They are all really great devices, and do what they are supposed to do within their operating envelope. They both have a pretty loyal following, but I'd say that Protovapor has probably sold more units, although that's irrelevant to the end user (other than as a gauge of popularity).

The XPV 40, of course, adds temperature control, which a lot of people, including myself, are using, and experimenting with. I've found it useful, and the fact that some factory coils are now going to be produced with Ni200 wire to take advantage of temperature control is pretty exciting.

I'd say that with factory tanks and coils, performance wise, they are indistinguishable from one another, although the "boost" on the P3 is something that has good potential.

With rebuildables, again, I believe they are identical in performance at nominal power settings. A Kayfun with a 1.2 ohm coil on a Provari V2 at 3.8 volts vapes just like it would on a P3 at 12 watts or an XPV at 12 watts.

The question is where do you want to end up at the end of the day? If all you're looking for is a good, solid, device, and a nice, enjoyable vape, it's a tossup. If you're interested in higher power and rebuilding with Ni200 wire, then the XPV is your huckleberry.

And yes, they both do have fantastic customer service, and neither company will leave you hanging.

Sold more units this year?

A very doubtful maybe

Units sold in total?

Not a snowballs chance in hell.

I think as a pretty average vaper, the dna40 is a bit of an overkill to me. My vaping range is between 1.2 to 1.8 Ohm and I preferably vape at 8 to 10 watts. I recently felt in love with rebuildable atomizers, and them of course I only vape them at the same range.

So, under those circumstances, I think a ProVari suits better. And even a ProVari isn't a must. The sigelei zmax is doing pretty well since I got it :)

But, well. On the one hand this new temperature thing is one cool feature, but on the other hand I've read some issues about that it's not working properly. Issues about reread the coil resistance, issue with temp reading. But no clue. To me it's an overkill and I'll stick to my sigelei for now :)
