Kinda bummed. I had my annual physical yesterday and was so happy to tell my doctor that I had quit analogs 2 months and was now vaping! I've smoked since I was 18, I'm now 43. For the last 10 years or so I was smoking about a pack and a half a day.
Her response? She shook her head and said she thought vaping was WORSE than smoking.

I'm sorry you were disappointed BlackCat. My Doctor was really pleased, with the caveat that he thought vaping was better than smoking, but he was sure that vaping was not without some health risk. I wish/hope more health care professionals would be more open-minded and see vaping as a viable, and healthier form of smoking cessation.

the Dr. I go to was always on my .... to quit smoking... he knew what my chest sounded like when I was smoking ( hence the reason and persistance to make me stop)... anyway I started vaping and had another mini physical and he was astounded at the clarity of my lungs... no more wheezing, popping, crackle ... he was so impressed at the transformation he now advocates vaping to his smoking patients... I go to a kewl Dr. :)

Dont fight with her. She may be a doctor but she is ignorant at all. I had one doctor (of wife's) told me same thing. I asked her do you recommend I would smoke instead of vaping? She shrugged its your choice she told. What makes vaping worst I asked. She told me even if you dont smoke you have the same attitudes with smoking you can never leave. I told her this is just the point what makes vaping win over smoking. She told it is smoking whatever you call it. (If she was a real doctor she would ask me breath tests MR etc to see what 40 plus years smoking did my lungs and what happened in 2 years after vaping)
You can tell the one who doesnt know about something but would like to learn. But you cant do anything about ignorants. For they know everything anyway.

My gp was happy when I told her I had stopped smoking, but the proof was that I stayed stopped, and she could see the fortunately minimal impacts I was starting to show go away over time.

She updated my status formally to non smoker after a year, and I did provide her some medical info charts on vaping. The staff at the office I go to are uniformly happy to see patients switch.

My husband has lung and bladder cancer.. At present he is getting the small cell cancer treated and both doctors, chemo and radiation are so pleased he smokes an ecig.. My doctor was also pleased and said he wished they had been around for his father.. Seems like your Dr. need some reading on the issue.

Doctors are a funny lot :), the suspicious part of my mind sometimes wonders if some are taking money under the table from companies like nicorette to get poor people addicted to their nasty expensive products ;)

I think my GP was pretty cool about it when I mentioned, had pretty much the same opinion I had come away with from googling; we don't know the long term effects yet, but anything is better than smoking :D.
