Just built my 2nd coil for my Russian rba. Decided to use 400 mesh SS wrapped around the silica wick material that was provided with the Russian. Didn't have a torch so figured hey, I have a gas range, so I used that to oxidize the SS mesh first. Cooked the flat mesh square at least 5 times, getting it nice and red hot through out. Rolled it up not real tight but smaller than the silica I was going to use. I then eyed it next to the coil containment skirt and snipped off about 1/4" maybe less. Needed to leave room for the silica to clear the sides of the chamber and reach the bottom. Probably be able to get 4 or 5 builds off the small 45mm x 45mm sheet of SS mesh that I burned
I then took my silica wick material, starting with the standard figure 8 or double loop configuration that the Kayfun and the Russian recommends, rolled my SS mesh around the middle of the figure 8 silica wick, then wrapped my coil around the SS mesh. I used Kanthal A Resistance Wire 30 awg. did 4-5 wraps around the SS mesh and then mounted it on the atomizer head. I used the lower pass through holes to secure the wire, figuring this would give me more control on the height of the coil over the air intake.
I will be the first to admit that I suck at winding coils, and this one looked like chit. Was only my second build and the first one worked like a charm, so I tested the ohms and got the lo message on my Provari. Pizz, Well being a stubborn 50 something man, I decided to turn the power on and pulse it some. Started to glow the got an E1 error, pulsed some more, then got and E2 error, dripped some juice on the wick pulsed some more, and we got some vape and no errors ohm'd out about 1.5. Put the collar on, pushed the silica down to the juice deck. saturated the wick with juice, cranked the voltage up to 4 volts, yep, me got vape.
Assembled the Russian, filled it with juice fired it up and............DAMN...I mean DAMN!!! We be making VAPE NOW!!! I Mean DAMN. Right off the bat it's producing more vape than I've experienced to date. The clouds are like you see on TV, or is that YouTube, and that's with inhaling. I have to hold the button about 3 seconds before vapping, but once I do, it's hitting like a Power Hitter!!!! Anyone remember those?? You can hear the nice mellow sizzle of coil doing it's thing, and it's just pumping out the vape!! I had to jump my magnification up to 150% to be able to find the right forum to post this in. At least I hope this is the right forum. And that's after dialing down my nic level to 18mg from 24mg. The eye site was a little blurry after the first couple vapes.
The flavor was pretty good on the first vape, and getting more delicious with each press of the button. Figure by time I do my 2nd 4ml fill up, I should be in the zone.
Any who, don't have much to compare it to worth mentioning, just protanks, and they ain't worth the mention/comparison, but I imagine it's on a par with the micro coil, haven't tried a genesis yet, should have my I-Atty in about 2 weeks. But regardless, I'm getting it now. lol
