hello to all of you. i'm not sure of the culture here as i didn't really lurk before registering.

i'm relatively new to the vaporiser world. i remember when they hit the local markets a few years ago and never really paid much attention to them. i'm a pack a day smoker of marlboro reds and i really enjoy them. i used to travel out of the country frequently, so keeping non-fsc cartons stocked wasn't difficult.

now, i travel less and i'm not comfortable ordering from a discount foreign retailer and smoking the fsc cigarettes consistently is definitely affecting my chest. i've been doing it for about two years now and i don't notice it hurting my lungs as much, but i still hate the taste of that vinyl acetate band.

i went to san diego comic-con and while there, i bought a disposable e-cig on a whim and didn't hate it. i'd tried a couple of random ones here and there and didn't really care much for it. my buddy at con with me told me that you had to spend sometime to acclimatise yourself to them. by the end of the first day, i found that i was smoking once every 5 hours or so, and puffing away on the e-cig in between without even realising that i'd skipped going outside for a long while.

long story short (i know, too late), i've decided to dive head first into this new thing. i don't plan on quitting actual cigarettes, though i'll probably cut myself down from a pack a day to about 3-5 smokes a day. i bought a cig20 today, and i don't mind it so far. a friend suggested the halo g6. from what i read on the website, the e-liquid seems to be of decent quality, but i'd easily defer to the community's expertise on that.

so, what do you guys suggest i do? i've heard great things about the 510 and priced a 510-t. i don't mind doing technical things and piecing together a setup would be fun. the only problem is that there is a lot of information out there, and most sites are designed to sell you something, so i can't really use google-fu to learn about this.

Welcome to ECF!

If you HAVE to have a cigarette look alike, I'd suggest the Volt. It's a much better battery than the 510-T. Here's a link to the starter kits. Of the four they offer, I'd suggest you buy any of the three that offer TWO batteries. This way, you can be charging one while you use the other one.

It's also best if you buy the manual batteries, because they last longer between charges than the automatics.

If you don't have to have a cig look-alike, then I'd strongly recommend the KGO. Much, Much better battery life...like one will last a heavy vaper all day. It's about the size of a highlighter.

www.
I suggest the volt from smokeless image as well. The battery lasts from 2-4 hours, which is much better than the 510-t. The cartos last a long time, can be refilled several times and don't burn as easily. Their customer service is second to none. In addition they are very reasonably priced. The halo g6 and Volt use the same battery, it's just smokeless image is a bit cheaper. There is also a 15% off coupon.
Here is a video demonstrating the volt. It also shows the X2, which is the same as the kgo, so you can get an idea of the difference.

Welcome to ECF!
I have both the Volt and the KGO, and like and use both of them. I also started just like you did, with the plan to cut down, not quit. I did that for about 6 months, and finally just decided to quit buying smokes. I still have an unopened pack in my car glove box (safety net), but I smoked my last cig before going to bed last Sunday.
My suggestion: Order a variety of juices from a variety of vendors. I think my favorite so far is Vixen Vapors, since you can choose not only the nic strength, also the strength of flavor, and you can add menthol to everything. My two cents. :)

Welcome! I'm still relatively new to vaping. I believe Kay 1959 has given you some good advice. I smoked 2.5 PAD (packs a day) of Marlboro Red 100's for years. I'm a cancer survivor.

I suggest that you check out some other threads. You may have to get in 5 posts before you can move about more freely; it's a forum rule for noobs. (that's newbie)

I would suggest you consider these questions before you dive in: Do I want a PV that looks like a cigarette? How important is battery life to me? What flavors intrigue me the most? How much do I want to spend? Does the manual battery kay1959 suggests (which I also like) fit what I want or do I want to just be able to pick up my PV and draw on it automatically? (automatic battery)

Before you buy use this forum! You'll get some of the best subjective (that's right subjective) advice you could ever get about vaping. Before you buy make sure you check out ECF for discount coupons or coupon codes for anything you buy. You can also use a search engine and enter the name of the vendor and something like discount code or discout coupon along with it and save money.

My philosophy when I started was simple. Even if I continued to smoke even 10 analogs (cigarettes) a day along with vaping, for the rest of my life, I'd be so far ahead of the curve regarding my health and pocketbook it would be worth. I've been just over 4 months now not only without analogs but with any other kind of tobacco use. I live with a smoker so analogs, even at this second, are readily available. Yet here I sit vaping.

Good luck to you. Take your time and study up and you'll probably be a lot happier with your first purchase.

Welcome and i am new here also, so still learning a lot.

One thing people ask is do you want a cig/analog look alike when it comes to your method of getting vapor. I have thought about this and atm i know my batts look like cigs but I like the ease of holding them and using them with carts. So I may continue using the e-cig stick typesfor those reasons, plus it is what my habits are used to the holding and feeling part.. The only difference is i can and will decorate my batts with pretty drip tips and covers for the batt part. YAY I love vaping and all the choices of styles...

Keep on vaping, if you have a problem this is a nice support forum to be around. Glad you joined :)

btw research all the suggestions about batt types because it will have to fit what you need as your delivery of vapor. Some people use more than one type. I like my notebook pass through at home and the other batts for when i am going somewhere.

i've been reading around the forums and there is a lot to take in. thank you all for your suggestions.

for now, i think i'm going to stick with a cigarette styled system like more2. it feels more natural for now. the disposable pv i used has a manual battery. i got used to it, but now the cig2o has an automatic battery and i kind of like it too. i have to see what kind of battery life i get out of this. today was my first full day with the cig2o and the battery is going strong. i'm going to see how long it lasts tomorrow. if it can make it two days, i may be okay with an automatic. what scares me, though, is that automatics seem to be more tempermental and sensitive to filling errors.

i'm going to click on every link in this thread and read about the suggestions and get back to you. wish me luck!
