Hi there,

I found this site via MSE. I have read the stickys (especially this one: Best E-Cigarette for a New User) and I have a couple of questions:

1. I will probably go for the 510 as it has been recommended for beginners - any ideas where the best place to buy these in London is (preferably online) and what sort of kit I need?

2. I smoke 10-15 a day - can anyone give me a rough indication of much much I will spend a month on e-cigs?

3. Strange question - but is this something I can smoke in an office environment?

4. How easy is it to set up/use the e-cig?

Hi unknown, check out Liberty-Flights....They have a UK location also remember when checking out to hit their discount button. I believe it's for 20% off.

They have a 510 starter kit, but I'd also look at their Riva/eGo options for a bigger battery. You may find it's a PITA charging the small batteries every few hours. But it's up to you the Rivas/eGo really arent very big.

I smoked 1 to 2 ppd, because I have my kit and juices figured out....I only HAVE to spend about $20 a month but often spend more because I want too.

There is a learning curve to master with ecigs, but everyone here will be happy to help you along the way, once you get it down and have the basic understanding it's very easy to use.

Each office is different. I have no issues where I work, but other places are less enlightened. You can stealth vape or show your equipment to people and explain how it works and why it's safe.

Can you smoke in an office. Up to your manager/supervisor. How much juice will you use in a month? Thats a HIGHLY subjective question, I smoked around 10 cigs a day before i made the switch, correct me if im wrong, but a ballpark figure (juice = to the number of puffs for a cig, not nicotine intake, that has even more variables) is 1ml of juice is roughly a pack of smokes. I vape around 3 mills a day, far more than i smoked, and thats due to a few things, chiefly due i think to being able to vape inside, not having to go outside causes me to vape far more frequently. As far as how much youll be spending? ive heard of ppl doing DIY and vapeing for under 5 bucks a month. You can save or spend as much as you want vapeing, its up to you
Hows easy is it to use an ecig? Your average smartphone is likely far more complicated, or maybe your microwave. Their very easy to pick up and learn.

Recommended by whom? It's pretty rare that I hear anyone on this forum recommend a 510 for anyone. It may be the most popular model because beginners think they want something that looks like a cigarette. The vast majority of them wind up with something like an ego or larger.

I'd probably go for the standard ego/riva (510 threaded) instead of a 901 as it's easier to get 510 threaded gear to use with your 510 batteries.

You'll want to try out some 2.5 or 2.0 ohm cartomisers with your ego/riva as atomisers aren't too portable and it can be a chore to drip with them and the ego T tends to be a really probematic atomiser so I would advise against buying an ego T.

just go with the Ego-C. if you are switching from analogs you need to focus on satisfaction, not battery life or burning cartomizer flavors. I wish i had started with it man. there are videos on youtube on how to fill the carts. mad easy . Just don't buy a knockoff get real joyetech.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on your 1st step to being a non smoker. I am sure you will be happy with your new ego, though I would recommend you pick up a few carto's. Atomizers are great but can be a pain in the ...., carto's tend to be a little easier for the new user.

This is definitely the place to ask any questions you may have about e-cigs. The people here are incredible and always willing to lend a hand.

My e-cig has no arrived - feel a bit silly but no idea how to use it - tried to look on the forum and use youtube for videos but cannot work out how to put it together or whether or not cartidges are pre-filled or not?! Anyone got the same one and got any links to a tutorial?!

You got liquid with it right? It was meant to come with a 5ml bottle of liquid so I'm guessing you did.

What you got is a standard atomiser system. That means it's a three piece setup: battery, atomiser and cartridge. The cartridges shouldn't be prefilled. What you need to do is put a few drops into the wadding (white cotton looking stuff) inside the cartridge until it's wet, but not soaking wet. Next, blow out the atomiser (the bit that screws onto the battery). This is important as it may have primer in it and it tastes pretty bad. Sometimes it will, sometimes it wont so it's best to check there definately isn't, and if there is, blow it out.

Alright, so once you have one cartridge with liquid in it, put around 4 - 6 drops straight into the atomiser part then put the cartridge ontop of that. It is now assembled and good to go.

You will need to keep topping the cartridge up with liquid, or if you prefer it (many do) drop liquid straight into the atomiser. You'll know when to top it up when it starts tasting off or you're getting a really harsh dry hit that gives you less vapour.

What I would recommend is that you get in some 510 cartomisers from Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers 5 of these will last about a month to two months or more depending on useage and the liquid you use. It's a more effective system than the atomiser and cartridge one as you don't need to top up a cartomiser as often as you do with the atomisers. You put more in at one time so it's less hassle. I'd say to try out the 2.0 ohm ones for better heat and vapour.

If you have any trouble with the atomisers you have in the meantime, give us a shout yeah?

Been using my e-cig all weekend - not had a cigarette since i've got it

Couple more questions:

1. I got Camtel e-liquid (I used to smoke Camels so thought it would be the best!) - however, it seems to get me in the back of the throat a bit. It seems quite strong - and there is a slightly funny after taste. Perhaps I need something lighter - any recommendations or is it just a case of trying a few and seeing what suits?

2. With all the various e-liquids etc - are any "better" for you than the other? My worry is that as vaping is so easy and can be done anywhere, I end up smoking more than I did before!

3. Is there any way of getting pre-filled cartidges or another way of making my life easier (showing my laziness!). Perhaps that is what the cartomizers referred to above are?

4. Any recommendations on pouches - don't want it to get scratched or open up when in my pocket
