I have been using a PV for a while now (this one to be specific: Vapor King Diamond Series XL Manual Battery - E-Cigarette Battery). I bought a couple of these batteries on the recommendation of a friend and also grabbed some pre-filled carts and some empty ones I have been using to try out some juices I have bought here and there. I like them, they're working fine which basically means I'm off the analogs and am content with the PV. However, I'm ready to upgrade. I know these batteries are disposable in that the instructions that come with it says I should expect between 200-300 chargers. I have no idea what the voltage is, nor what the connection is (I think it's a 801, though I could be wrong, but I know it's not a 510 via a misplaced purchase).

I've read over a number of other similar requests for advice and notice that it's helpful to say what I expect or want. I want something that produces a large amount of vapor with a decent TH and lasts for a decent amount of time (at least half the day at my current usage of around 1 carto every 2 days). That being said, I have been looking at the VMod and REO Grand as options (I really like the box mod style with the added benefits of the amount of juice it can carry). I like the REO Grand as it allows for the option to use higher voltage and have since learned that I can do the same with the VMod, but the only options are 3.7 and 6-6.4 the higher of which I've heard can produce somewhat negative flavors. Also, it appears to me that the VMod requires that you use the cartos/attys from their store, I could be wrong. I've also been looking over the Provari (can't afford that, the REO is pushing my budget) and the LavaTube, but I really don't like the size of the LavaTube.

Please correct me where I'm wrong and let me know what you thoughts are. This is still fairly new to me and I'm getting a little more savvy as I read through the forums and watch videos. Thanks for taking the time to read this and please let me know what further information I can provide to help out. Thanks!

First, the batteries that you have, have a KR808-D1 connection - standard V4L cartomizer connection.

As far as a mod goes, the thing about high voltage mods (6volts and above) is that they require a higher ohmed carto or atty which then reduces the wattage to make it vapable. The 'negative flavors' that you mention - actually burnt or washed out flavors can be a problem is the atty/carto is rated too low in ohms. Wattage is more important than voltage in getting the right flavor, and wattage/heat affects flavors differently. Strong flavors are enhance by more heat, lighter flavors are burnt or flavorless with more heat.

Fortunately, now you can get fairly high wattages from 3.7 volt batteries by buying atomizers or cartomizers that have lower resistance/ohms than the standard ohm ones. Since you like box mods, and the Reo Grand is pushing your budget, the Reo mini might be a good choice. It has a 3.7volt battery that is rechargeable and you can run attys or cartomizers that range from 1.5 ohms to about 2.8 ohms (for the lighter flavors) and still get great vapor and throat hit and have 3ml of ejuice that is 'internal' in the same set up as the Grand. Plus it's a bit less expensive and smaller - fits in the palm easily. The batteries for the Reo will last you anywhere from 2.5 to 3 times of what you have now - depending upon which battery you choose to run in the Reo. I have a Reo mini and don't have the others but have had both high voltage and variable voltage mods. The Reo mini performs as well as any high voltage mod with the right atomizer/cartomizer. I have no affiliation - just a customer.

Also you can get a 510 to cartomizer adapter if you want to vape the cartos on the mini.

A Reo Grand or Mini would both be great choices, but you mentioned they'd be a strain on your budget. With that in mind, consider that you'd also need to purchase batteries and a charger plus 510 cartos or attys. You could buy a 510 to 808 adapter and use your V4L cartos on a Reo, but adapters and juice feeders can be problematic, so 510 cartos or attys would be the better choice.

i have or have had all the mods in which you inquire Biscuit. i love tube mods but i still have a great appreciation for bottom feeders. i highly recommend the new Vmod XL. both the Grand and the XL can run 3.7v by using a single 18650, 4.8/5v with a single 4.8v Nimh battery, 6v by stacking 2 rcr123a 3v batteries, 6.4v by stacking 2 rcr123a 3.2v batteries, or 7.4v by stacking 2 16340 3.7v batteries. the options are all there it really comes down to preference. i loved my reo's but the new Vmod is definitely a winner IMO.(form, function, and price)

at the moment i currently use my Precise+650 and a VmodXL and switch out between 3.7v and 4.8v and ive been a Very happy camper! :)

good luck on your journey!
