Since i entered the vaping community i find myself saying this a lot and i imagine I'm not the only one haha. i moved in with my sister a few weeks ago and in that time I've gotten, a stingray clone, an itaste VTR, an itaste SVD, a new ego style setup for stealth vaping, a high end cigalike to aid me in quitting analogs, and an RDA and every time my sister sees me around the house using a new device she rolls her eyes and says "new e-cig? how is it any different than the other ones you have? you're an idiot." to which i proceed specifying the minute differences between my new device and my old devices. i let her vape it and she continues, "i don't see any difference than the last one i tried. stop wasting your money," to which i reply ":vapor: you just don't understand :vapor:" haha. no particular reason for this post i just find it funny how us vapors seem infatuated with trying different, more expensive devices, that in all serious, do the same thing. but its so much .......*** fun! getting vapemail is like christmas morning once a week! getting a new device makes us feel like children again and going to a vapeshop is like a kid in a candy store.

that being said, to any beginner vapers reading this i just want to remind you that you don't have to have a 300 dollar setup to vape happily and to keep you off cigs. a 20 dollar ego style blister kit from walmart can be just as helpful in quitting cigs as a gold plated V3 flip with a kayfun on top. but if you are into vaping as more than a means to quit and more as a hobby, then boy does it feel great to get new stuff!!!

Well, I've been smoke free just a bit over 3 months now, and according to my banner, I've saved over $500, and avoided almost 2000 cigarettes. I know I have not spent anywhere near $500 on vape gear, even though I've bought a ton -- I look for bargains wherever I can find 'em, ebay is great for free shipping and excellent prices. You're right, they don't understand at all, why we actually NEED this stuff; they'll try to argue you out of vaping, as if it's some kind of switch you can turn off in your head -- if that were true, there would be no need whatever for ANY NRT.

I'd say, pay no attention, be glad you're smoke-free, and be joyful when the vapemail arrives. If nothing else, all this gear and online shopping and coil building and vapemail! is a terrific distraction, plus there's the pleasure of something so much like smoking, yet not nearly as bad for us. Hooray!

Just tell her it beats paying $120/mo for smokes and makes you happy. Which is the purpose to getting the new device in the first place.

$176/mo for me, though that was 3 months ago, it's probably even more by now. They just love to jack up those taxes. :glare:

Lol... Ask her why she buys different styles of clothes or bra's.... they all do the same thing.. why did you spend more on one or the other? Tell her to stop paying for whatever bra she uses and just get the cheapest Wal-Mart sells... they both do the same thing. :)

Rofl!!!! Hey Neal, whassup! Didja see, they got the bridge finished at hwy 20!!! 316 still looks like a disaster area, though, and last time I was over there, hmm...Friday.. they still didn't have the Collins Hill bridge done either. :grr:

Also shoes... ask why she needs 9 pairs of black shoes. 2 is ample.. one dressy, one casual. And I guess another, sandals, but more than that??? WAYYY overkill. :D

$20 is exactly what I spent on a good starter kit that I still have & use, though the ego style 1100mah battery is beginning to show signs of aging. It's taking longer to charge & needs it more often.

However it was bought in late November, 4 or 5 samples came with it, 2 top coil tanks, plus he threw in one of his rebuilt bottom coil tanks & told me to put my favorite e-juice in it. So for the first 3 weeks, $20 was all that was spent. My e-juices (2 30ml bottles) cost $26 monthly, that's $14 less than the cigarettes I was smoking, plus some e-juice is left over.

It was 2 months later, in January, when I bought my mod, an Astro clone with a DPure PuriTank, 2 AW 18490 batteries, a charger, 2 packs of Kanger coils, 2 15ml bottles of e-juice & a case for $90. The charger could have been better, it was a ThreatFire, but later, after I got an Efest LUC V2 from him, I asked him why not a better charger from the start, he told me that the price would be pushed over $100 for all & that's when customers says no thanks.

However, I'd have understood & would have paid extra for a quality charger. Some may not & I can agree that the magical $100 cost would scare some off, but the fact is, in NC, if one buys 2 premium cartons of analogs, that's $100 in itself.

But anyway, one doesn't need to spend a fortune on devices. I can't & won't, but I've learned where to go cheap & where to pay up. Batteries & chargers are something worth paying extra for, as no name or counterfeit brands can be dangerous to use. I've seen some convienence stores selling starter kits (pack of 2 ego style batteries, 650mah) for $25, but one has to buy e-juice. Too, I'd not want to go below 1100mah, they hold longer charges.

But still, a fortune doesn't have to be spent. There are some that will buy every new device that comes out, but no, I don't try to keep up with others. 2 devices is plenty for me.

Amen! I've looked for and found rock-bottom prices on several mods, and a couple of kayfun clones, plus all those cheapie kangers I bought at first... but when it came time to buy removable batteries and a charger, I didn't get the *most* expensive, but I didn't go for the super-cheapies either -- eFest IMR for all my removables, and a Nitecore I4. Once I knew exactly what *kind* of batteries to shop for -- IMR Hi-drain -- I looked for bargains on those, from reputable vendors, but none of those "*fire" things, fire scares me!!! :D

I am still trying to explain to my wife why I need so many different screwdrivers. I have mostly avoided the topic of vaping and for the most part she is just delighted that I am not smoking any more.
Ya know given the 4 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft rubbermade tub FULL of computer parts and wire the hubby has (it takes 2 men to lift it), he doesn't say much about my vape gear. :)

Yes, was finally glad to go over that bridge.. but when I saw they were still using the exit ramp as the main highway, I was like... here goes another 2 years. If you haven't noticed, they're building like it was I-85.... overly large. I have a feeling 316 will be larger than 4 lanes in the next 20 years. My guess... is they probably want to expand Briscoe field to take some of the slack off of Hartsfield..... just my theory.

Well, they seem to have almost all the grading done, if not all, by now; it's just a matter of the surfacing. But I wonder how long till they get the Collins Hill bridge finished. I think there's a lot of traffic on that road because of the college, and it's a cut-thru from Russell and points further north. It was just great to be able to take 316 over to 20 when I had to get to Swanson to pay the electric bill, instead of having to poke along behind every old fart in L'ville going 30 mph on Hurricane Shoals. :-x And then exit back to 316 via Hi-Hope and go all the way back to Riverside; still a bit confused and congested because of the red lights and assorted construction mayhem at 20 and Collins Hill, but it's getting better, S-L-O-O-O-O-W-L-Y.

But they say it'll be done by 2015. They're actually moving at a lightening pace compared to forsyth co roadwork; the widening going on on Bethelview between hwy 9 and Castleberry has been going on forever, and shows no sign of being done anytime soon, and that's a MUCH smaller project than this 316 mess.

I don't go TOTALLY nuts, but I do have some pricey stuff.
I pace it, and several times, I've tried something - then sold it for almost what I paid, and moved on to try something else.
It's definitely a hobby. I don't NEED anything right now...but I'm already planning on getting something different next time I get a bonus check (possibly a Reo, if it's a big enuf bonus) :D

I think you have to explain that it's actually a hobby - that you LIKE experimenting and learning how to get different gear to work. More rewarding to build a coil than it was to burn some poisoned leaves.

Heh. Keep me away from the tool truck. Those tool guys are like a dealer in the dark doorway of a brownstone! :D I don't justify my purchases to anyone, and as you noted if someone really loves you, they will be really happy that you aren't killing yourself any longer.

I don't foresee me getting any New Devices anytime in the near future. Your sister is right, IMHO.

Once you have the hardware that does the job, and that job is to get you off and keep you off the analogs, all new hardware is just spending money where it is not needed.

I must ask why did you move in with your sister?
