So today I hung out with my sister, who still smokes cigarettes. I have only been cig free for 4.5 days and haven't been around anyone that smokes. She was smoking today and I am not going to lie. It smelled GOOD to me. I wasn't going to ask her for a cigarette or anything, it just smelled good. The good sister that she is, when I told her it smelled good, she automatically said NO. lol.

Anyways, what was your first secondhand smoke like after you quit?

I live with a smoker, but there's never been smoking allowed in the house. I admit it does make it a little more difficult but not impossible. If we're together where he's smoking (like in the car), I just vape and it's fine. It helps that he doesn't smoke the same kind I did. I still like the smell of fresh tobacco smoke, but if it's been hanging around a while--not so much.

My mother-in-law is a heavy smoker and she smokes in the garage which is right near my bedroom and I just avoided her when smoking for the first few days, but after that I couldn't stand the smell. It has gotten better and I have no problem, I notice if I vape while she smokes, it really helps a lot and my smoke smells WAY better than hers lol. (Cinnamon Red Hot)

My roommates were smokers for a while after I switched over. It was kinda tough at first, but after a few weeks of only smoking my ecig, the smell of smoke really started to be gross to me. So stick with it! I have since proceeded to convert my roommates to the digital side haha. Maybe you can convert your sister too!

I was around cigarettes from the first day. A lot of my friends smoke. At first, it actually helped me to smell their smoke while I vaped. Made me feel a bit more normal. Then I got to the point where I didn't care either way. This weekend I kept smelling this awful burnt smell on the porch and it made me feel sick. Turns out it was one lone cigarette .... left by a friend. It took a year, but apparently my sense of smell is back to normal. I no longer enjoy smelling cigarette smoke, and it certainly doesn't make me want to light up. Progress! :)

I had some temptations early on. I'll tell ya what helped. I kept an ashtray on my porch with wet cigarette butts in it. Every time I wanted a cigarette I'd go smell that instead.

It will get easier, I hang out in the smoking section at college a lot because I like the conversation and dont want to be one of THOSE ex-smokers and it doesnt tempt me at all now. Occasionally I'll get a strong whiff as the smoke drifts my way but more tempted to move than anything else.

I had a hard time hanging around my sister when I first switched to vaping. I've gotten more used to it now, so it doesn't give me cravings at all, but boy... I cannot stand that smell anymore!

I just try to get out of the way of smokers now...try to walk around them. Really don't like the smell now. :p

other than then being around my gf who was a cig smoke(now converted) and the usual at work(vaping is growing there)it would have had to been the first time i went back to a bar and i have to admit it wasnt a normal bar it was a biker bar and i walked in with a pack of cigs and proceeded to smoke them untill i left. now this was my own fault it, kinda felt out of place with my ecig there

I have been analog free around 7 days now and am starting to smell the residuals on the people that do smoke. It doesn't affect me when I am with a group of smokers outside as much now the smell it leaves on peoples bodies. I feel like apologizing to all friends and family who have had to deal with my smoke stench over the years.

Totally Lost
My Wife and I were 2 pack a day smokers for over 26 years and have been stinky free for a month now because of vaping. Sunday, she decided to take me to the Casino for Fathers Day for a little fun (we actually won a little). Neither of us even thought about Casino=cigarette smoke till we got there and opened the door. The cloud hit us like a tidal wave surging to shore. We both reeled back, looked at each other, and went "Whew!" We had our EGO's with us and vaped away. We were there for a few hours and not once did we want an analog. However, we did get ALOT of questions from smokers about what we were doing and where they could get one! Hopefully, if at least one of them decides to give it a try, at least that will be one less soul paying the big tobacco companies to kill them. We did realize one thing....we can't stand the smell of analogs now. Vape on everyone.....:toast:

Same as others, I still LOVE the smell of smoke, however I feel fortunate that I am starting to enjoy my e-cig just as much as cigarettes, so after the first week of no cigs, being around the smoke got a lot easier.

Really the hardest part of giving up analogs for me is missing the ritual that goes a long with it, you know what I mean, the "After a meal" cigarette, the "Morning coffee" cigarette, the "I have been working for hours and need a break" cigarette. Since I can pretty much vape non-stop (at home and work), I no longer need to "get up and go outside", which really makes me miss those moments. It's very much a mental game

But after 11 days of no analogs (only 2 in the last 19), letting go of those moments throughout the day is getting easier.

I was around smokers after I had been smoke free for around 6 hours. I would still go out with the smokers at work but would vape instead. I go out to lunch with a female coworker and she smokes in the vehicle. Didn't bother me as far as cravings go. After a few weeks of not smoking, they started smelling terrible to me. I also think it has to do with brand of cigarettes. Some smell more offensive than others.
