I'm a stair detailer. We do shop fabrication and field assembly/erection drawings for steel stairs. I worked for the same company for 30 years. 4 years ago, the owner passed away and his wife sold the company. Only took the new owners about a year to run it into the ground and close the doors. Spent about a year looking for work with no luck, so one of my coworkers and I started our own company. Been doing this for 34 years. Sometimes it gets kinda old, but it pays the bills.

I'm an Electical Engineer, currently I work for an electrical distributor as the product manager for Rockwell Automation Drives (VFD's) and Motion (robotics) for the state of Georgia. Specifically I work in Industrial Automation with low voltage (480V) and medium voltage (4160V) power distribution and control to help many companies and systems integrators find engineering solutions. My everyday work life basically boils down to episodes of "How it's Made".

Owner/Operator/Mechanic/Sales/Slave of a 45 year old bicycle shop I purchased 6 years ago from my previous employer when he retired at age 70.

Yes, I've smoked a pack a day and still rode 250-300 miles a week for over a decade, and drank a case most of em' and raced all the while:D
I'm a daddy, no stinkies, no drinkies, and very happy only riding w/my kids these days:)

I've worked in the bicycle industry for 13 years...

I am an IT engineer in a management and consulting role as partner consultant in a small consultancy, usually doing IT architecture, project management coaching and sometimes even software development and network security.

We specialize in helping managerial and technical people understand each other better - and in firefighting "lost" projects, often for automotive customers, banks and telcos.

I have been in the business for more than 25 years now and left the high speed rat race a couple of years ago, so I am able to do a lot of my work from home - I have about a fifth of my former income now, but it's enough to pay the bills.

Every now and then I will have a fire fighter assignment for a couple of weeks or months when somewhere a project went downhill - that's when I suddenly disappear for a while.
