Thanks everyone! Hospice is a very rewarding path. It is also definitely an emotional roller coaster, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I answered earlier about my real occupation (ER/flight nurse)..........but my dream career would be to be a sniper! yeah, that's right!

On the topic of Hospice nursing, WOW, it takes a special kind of nurse, a really mature nurse. Ten years ago in nursing school, I had the opportunity to do an entire semester of clinicals with a hospice nurse. Even 10 years into the game, I still don't feel "mature" enough to do the job of a hospice nurse. It's definitely a specialty, that takes a special kind of person, and a special kind of nurse. (Besides that, I don't think I could ever leave trauma/ER)

Thanks! I've been nursing since 1995. I never would have thought I could handle this job, but I fell into it about 2 years ago, and I enjoy it. I add to my "family" every day.
I tried ER once. Once. LOL. Not for me. I can deal with triage, and that's about it. HAHA!

Seeing what everyone else does, I feel incredibly lame now...

Not lame.... everyone has their job God knows if it was not for the heuradurra (sp? they are agave procurement) geting the plant ready for tequila I would be a mess most days......lol. Be the best at what you are that is all that matters.

i'm an Army vet
Thank you.... that is why I am accepting a position at the VA ....well vets and because I can transfer anywhere there is a VA. I choose not to serve when I was younger so now it is my turn to serve all those who have served me without even knowing who I was.

I was going to be a hospice nurse..... but I recently found with the right nursing staff I am more benificial to acute care as a RRT and even if they become in patient hospice I can help the family. I was raised in a show business family so I know how to communicate and if my nurses (yes i do call them my nurses... and I will protect the ones I trust like family) trust me I can help the families a lot. Been in this for 11 years seen a lot learned a lot willing to learn more ..... but the best RNs I have found are the ones who are also willing to learn from me.

I kinda feel pathetic in this room.....
I'm currently unemployed.
I did have a small golf shop here in Myrtle Beach, but somebody named John Daly opened up a larger golf shop across the street from me, and he was selling all of his clubs for the price I was payimg to buy them. Sure his were ...., made out of aluminum, and mine were good made out of titanium. But sometimes people would wrather save a buck today and replace it in a week, then buy something that will last long enough to give to your grand kids. I did custom built clubs, custom fitting for people, and would drop everything I was doing to fix somebody's club if they needed it right then.
Before that I was read water meter's in The suburbs of Atlanta, before that I delivered groceries to restaurants (drove a semi, and unloaded at restaurants) before that I drove a trash truck, before that I drove over the road, before that I was a receptionist, before that I was the lead technician for a small IT company, I mostly did Telephony (kinda the early years of that) VOIP, ran lines, set up new networks for businesses, before that I was in computer sales, before that I was in charge of sales fort the south east for a HVAC business that covered the whole US (we only changed filters every month for companies) before that I sold Long Term Care insurance/Medicare supplements. Hell I'm only 38, I don't know what to do now! I haven't worked since last August, I've just been a beach bum. Plus I have been in several bad accidents and have chronic back pain now (doc has me on methadone for the pain) so I really don't know what to do. I only wish I could get paid to be a beach bum!
Oh I did forget I was selling Time Shares before I opened up my little golf shop. That was ALOT of fun! But very stressful, if you don't sell you go!

Still have some golf clubs? Might be sacrilegious but build some metal detectors. People drop all kinds of stuff at the beach.

I'm a book slinger. Well these days, the public library is more of an internet access and F-R-E-E dvd's place. Like, I didn't know you can get books here too?!
