Hi Everyone!

I haven't smoked a cigarette since last September (after smoking 30 years) but I'm spending a small fortune on Green Smoke! Last month I found a liquid to refill that brought the price down but what a messy ordeal to keep filling these. I don't like the after taste of the liquid I'm using - Wet Your Stick.

Green Smoke has replaced about 8 batteries that stopped working, got too hot or began making hissing sounds. If I'm out for more than 5 hours at a party, I will need 3 batteries as they only last about 2 hours.

I want to switch and there's just too many to decide. I've read here about ego and looked at that. I don't need the feeling of a cigarette in my hand, don't care about the "glow." I want the longest lasting battery, easiest to refill.

I have 4 chargers from Green Smoke. Are those interchangeable with other brands or do you need to buy chargers all over again? It would be nice to have a charger that turned itself off!

What liquid brand do you like? I always smoked light real cigarettes.

I'd really appreciate your opinions! I tried using the keyword search box here to find answers but that's not working very well. I searched "green smoke" and nothing came up.

Good Morning Gorvegal!! Hope Florida has some nice weather today. So when I first started vaping I went through every brand, mod, connector type you can shake a stick at, so I give you kudos for not venturing into the dabbling exercise most of us have done :) To be honest though after 3 years of vaping, I have finally found that the EGO is probablly the best battery, all day vape you can get, venture into the mod world lavatube a great varial voltage mod and entry level price that will not make you feel like mad scientist. Tank systems? Love them, DCT tanks, liquinators, all day vaping with not a lot of maintenance. The aggravating part and I have been there is, 3 batteries in my pocket, a handful of carts, oh a dud cart great use another, oh the battery is blinking 40,000 times so that one is dead even though I just charged it :) Now, found my groove, out and about I have an ego with me that keeps on going, at work, mod with a DCT tank. Best of luck!!!

The models I will recommend are about the size of a sharpie pen and will give you about 5- 6 hours on a battery charge. They are definitely better IMO than the Ego because they are 3.7 volt batteries unlike the smaller 3.4 volt ego battery. They also come standard with 1000+ mAh batteries unlike the ego whose standard battery is only 650 mAh.

All of these models will be significant upgrades over Greensmoke and will greatly reduce your vaping frustration level.

I would look at the E-Power 510, the Kgo or the Riva. Here are several well supported suppliers:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

e-Power

Good Luck

+1 for ego. perfect starter and definitely an upgrade from what you have now.

If you want to take it even a step FARTHER get an Evo VV and some 510 dual coil cartomizers. It has 3 different powers of voltage and the middle setting puts out FAR more vapor than a cigarette puts out smoke and the batteries last all day long.

http://www.310vapers.com/featured-products/3vo-evo-variable-voltage-mod.html#

http://www.vaporus.com/EVO-VV-mod-kit-2.html

and if you purchase a tank cartomizer then you wont have to tinker with refilling/swapping out cartomizers all day.

And pretty much everyone starts with "tobacco flavored" e cigs. eventually you'll probably move onto fruit flavored or dessert flavored juice. You're getting taste buds back, why not take them for a ride right?!

If you look for juices rated at 70/30 PG/VG you'll get the most bang for your buck as far as flavor, throat hit, and vapor production.

Wow, thanks so much but your lingo is throwing me for a loop! Was Green Smoke a tank system? I have to get a little clear on this. Green Smoke is a simple battery and a cartridge.

I read the ones linked above and they seem to have more pieces to them.
Is upgrading going to require multiple pieces to put it together?
Can you fill the cartomizers of all brands with liquid?
I read about a Pila battery. Will that battery work with all brands?
Let's say I purchased the Ego E or Riva kit. What else should I buy?
How many cartomizers should I have on hand to fill?
Don't laugh - have 20 Green Smoke cartomizers I'm filling :p I go through about 2 of those a day.

Sorry to ask so many questions but it feels like I just entered a physics class for the first time!

I really, really appreciate your help!

The knowledge most women have of batteries, voltage, ohms, resistance, is nill!

Almost anything will save you money over what Green Smoke charges, and there are more choices than you can count.
Understand tho' that everyone has their favorite, but that's all it is .... their favorite. There really is a reason that we had over a thousand different kinds of cigarettes to choose from.
I started out with an eGo-T, and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread ..... until I tried cartomizers. Now I have everything from a little $2.20 box mod to a $550.00 monster, and I can make every one of them taste the way I want. Ironically they are all set up to taste the same. There are also more choices of juice flavors than you can count.
In the end, you will have to find what works best for you.

So many choices and options, you'll probably find quite a few suggestions thrown your way. Great aspect of ECF is that everyone is so willing to share their experiences.

So, here's my take based on what I've tried/seen. I also started with Green Smoke. Still have some laying around as backup to all backups emergency supply.

For moderate replacement cost (about $45-65) you can go with an kGo. Here's a link on something I put together a bit ago with more info.

    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ick-starter-guide-i-put-together-friends.html

Or if you want a really good all day, kick ...., won't need to search again for a while pv, grab a Provari. Expensive, but cheaper than Green Smoke by a mile.

ProVape E-Cigarettes: Buy Electronic Cigarettes & Smokeless Cigarettes

Now I realize that there are many other types of mods like the Provari (lavatube, GG, darwin, etc.) which you can look into, but I'll be frank. I can only recommend what I have seen and have some experience with.

Good luck on your journey. Stepping up is fun no matter what you end up with. :)

You will want to get some blank cartomizers and some eliquid to fill them with. That will make the E-Power, KGo and Riva a two piece model. The ones I recommended all come with 510 connections. I'm not sure what the Greensmoke is, probably either RN4081 or KR808. All you have to do to use what you have if it isn't 510 is get an adapter for $3.00 like these:

    Adapters

It's really not as complicated as you think.

I will stress again, the E-Power, Kgo and Riva are all better options than the Ego in that category even though they are the same physical size.

And as mentioned by others, there are better performing models than these. But for a relative new person like yourself, most want something closer in form factor to what they are already use to. Personally, an inexpensive 5 volt Box Mod is an excellent little model but some find it hard making the switch to a box mod due to it looking different.

Thank you so much! You're amazingly kind to give your time to reply. I've just looked through videos at YouTube. I see that these units, KGO, EGO and EVO are really large. It would look like I'm smoking a torpedo cigar as I'm a small woman. Green Smoke is about the size of a cigarette. By bumping up, am I stuck with this large size? The 901 Riva looked smaller in diameter.

I am guessing the size increases because of the larger battery. Can anyone recommend one that is smaller than those 3? I'd rather charge more often than have that large of a unit in my hand. It would really feel awkward.

    Thanks so much!

You could just stick to your greensmoke batteries for a while longer then and grab these blank cartomizers and fill with a juice you like.

KR808D-2 or GreenSmoke compatible blank cartomizer - package of five

Or check out the Riva that ww2win recomended. It's really not that much longer, a bit bigger round at the end, but very small comparatively. Be a step up but keeping in line with your desires.

Here's a picture to help from another thread:

Ok, another pic with some of the larger stuff:

    sizecomparison.jpg

    1. A Zippo
    2. He who must not be named
    3. A cigarillo (a real cigar)
    4. KR808D-1
    5. Riva 700 mAh
    6. Some sharpie thingy
    7. A very nice Balmoral Corona Dominican Selection (a real cigar)
    8. 1000 mAh eGo with LR dual coil mega cartomizer
    9. Lavatube with 5 ml tank.

Btw the 510 is not in this pic, but it's the same size as the cigarillo.

BTW, #4 is the same almost as your GreenSmoke Long Battery.

    Hope this helps.

+1 for the Epower and kGo.

I have an Epower and love it. It uses non-proprietary batteries which are removable and cost 1/4 of the price of eGo/kGo/riva batteries. And everything is rePlaceable on the Epower so it's cheaper to maintain. The batteries are 1050mah and I get on avg a day to a day and a half on one battery, and side the batteries are removable, it's very easy to Carry a spare with you, and then you never have to worry about being stuck with a dead battery
I think you'd be really happy with a Epower or kGo, and personally I think their both better than an eGo, and DEF better than your greensmoke. The 3.7V PVs also handle the lower resistance attys and cartos a lot better than the eGo does too.

Both of them are really not as big as they seem. I easily carry my Epower in my pocket everywhere I go.

Greetings to another local from SFL!

Size does matter! The larger the battery the longer the vape time between charges.

Assuming you MUST stay with something smaller you could look into an elite 808 or a volt. They will perform better and longer than greensmokes. Again though, this is a tradeoff. The larger the battery, the longer it will last.

Also, a LEO/LEA may be a bit more "disguiseable" as they have a cap that make them look like a fountain pen.

-1 on the Ego. There is simply no reason to buy an ego anymore. About a year ago, they provided the best combination of size, style and utility. Today, there are far better models such as the ones mentioned above.

    All the best!

    I was also a greensmoke victim =/

As Envithyx pointed out, greensmoke uses a KR808D-2 connection, which is somewhat hard to find cartomizers for. I picked up an adapter from The Better Way To Smoke - Adaptor, Kr808D-2 Battery to 510 Atomizer , so I could continue using the greensmoke batteries (I still like them for easy pocket carrying) while making the transition to the much more standard 510/eGo connection. The photo he posted also gives you a good idea of the size of the eGo - until I got one they seemed much bigger than they actually are.

Wow, Envithyx thank you SO MUCH for that photo! That just helped me to decide against the larger ones. I'd rather charge more often than have a big device in my hands! So I followed #4 and began reading about the K4808d-1! This looks good for me - anyone else like this one? I found it here KR808D1 E Cigarette

    Grovegal,

The greensmoke is a KR808D for the most part which you already have a few of. You might consider just using what you have and grab the adapter Whiskey Hotel linked in his response and use standard 510 cartomizers for now (that way you have stuff you can use if you ever get another pv down the road). If you don't want to go the way of the adapter, you could order blanks as linked above.

Just want to make sure that you know what you'll be getting if you go with the KR808D.

I take it the Riva was too big for your taste?

I also started to gather that you really didn't like having to fill/refill cartomizers. If that's so, then are you looking for pre-filled cartos that you can buy cheaper than the GreenSmoke packs?

    Salem's Stages of a Vaper:

    1. The "Mall/Gas station" vaper. These vapers usually still smoke, or have a very hard time quitting. They consume disposable e-cigs such as Greensmoke or other cheaper brands. This is one of the least optimal stages to be in.

    2. The "advanced" 510 user. These vapers move up to other higher quality 510s, usually refilling their own cartos with juice ordered from vendors.

    3. The "middle ground" vaper. This is probably the best place for the majority of vapers to be. Also probably the cheapest stage. They will generally own an ego or a similar ecig battery, and refill their own cartos (such as dual coil cartos) for their egos with juices of their own liking.

    4. The "advanced" vaper. This vaper will generally own VV mods or more expensive mods such as the Saber Touch, Lavatube or provari. Generally takes a lot of time on forums and stickam groups for vaping and really invests themselves in vaping. This is the stage I suggest most vapers to get into for their own enjoyment. In this stage, most vapers are not considering quitting vaping. They are instead using vaping as a new ritual/hobby/habit.

    5. The "rabbithole" vaper. They invest large amounts of money on multiple mods, batteries, juices, atties, and the like. They will generally spend much more on vaping than they did smoking - but LIKE it that way! Enjoy their juices. They are similar to the "advanced" vaper with the exception that they spend much much more. The rabbithole vaper can go as deep down the rabbit hole as they wish to go, and spend as much as you can imagine.

Pick a stage, and go there. Decide where you want to be with vaping.
