I looked a lot into what others though and it all seems like personal preference, hence the reason I got multiple different vg/pg juices. The first three that I will be getting are all from ECBlend and they all have "Extra Flavor" and the mix for each one is "Reduced PG". So you were right on the throat hit part :D. That does not mean though that I am unwilling to try high pg of course.

I am really into the high flavor, sweet and creamy goodness. I was told that Dragon's Blood/Tear would be good for that.

Hello everyone, I am very new to vaping and so far... I love it.
I was wondering what your thoughts and comments on my story would be, so here it goes.

I was never a smoker, drinker, drug using or any "bad" substance using person. I have always had horrible stress on my shoulders, a very large amount of anxiety and ADD. When I found out about vaping I thought long and hard about trying it, I thought that it could be a good substitute to the constant eating and oral fixations I need due to ADD and possibly a therapeutic relief. After about 2 months of thinking I decided to go for it. I have cut down from about a bag of chips and 6 sodas a day to about 3 glasses of water and half a bag a day. It may not sound all that great still but it IS an improvement... right?

I only vape for the flavor, no nicotine because I still am that Little Goody Two Shoes. I understand that many of you will feel the need to tell me how "I am an adult and should make my own decisions" but that does not mean I don't need to ask for your opinion on all of this.

Thank you all for your time to read my boring post and any responses you may leave :)

I think it is excellent that you have cut down on the sodas and junk food!
If vaping helps you do that that good for you!

Please keep us posted on your progress :)

Still very new to vaping but I will try and answer your questions the best I can:

As of now I only have Wild Raspberry and Lemon Drop. I have a couple on order from ECBlend:
Raspberry
French Vanilla
Dragon's Blood
Dragon's Tear
Candy Cane Twister

Awesome! I can see where those would keep you from eating. I just use a basic menthol-cinnamon.

Not sure about the whole PG/VG thing, the flavors that I stated above though have different ones so I can test out and see what I like. Some are 70/30 where others are 30/70 and between, so who knows what I like!

It sounds like you're pretty tolerant, which is good--you can use anything you want. I tend to prefer 50/50, but I'm completely tolerant of the same range you mentioned.

So far I have been vaping around 5 ml of juice a day. (is that bad?)

3 to 6 ml or so seems to be the average. Personally, I tear through 10 to 12 and I'm not dripping, it's in a clearomizer tank.

Throat hit is another thing I am unsure of, but will soon find out once I get my high PG juices.

If you find you hate them, get some VG and add that to reduce the PG percentage. That also dilutes the flavor, so I'd do a small test first, but it can sometimes turn a liquid you can't stand into one that's OK.

i dont see what part of this could possibly be a bad thing. i mean you didnt smoke cigarettes ok but you arent getting nicotine so its not like ur picking up bad habits besides inhaling some awesome flavors and vg/pg. besides that now you eat less chips and soda so thats a plus. i say good going and welcome to the vape community!

I think it's awesome. I don't think vaping has to just be an alternative to smoking. It's helpful for anyone that needs an alternative to help calm their mind down. If cutting down on snacking and sugary drinks were as simple as drinking more water or eating veggies, there wouldn't be so many fat people or prevalence of issues like heart disease and diabetes. Like I said in another post, without nicotine it's just food ingredients. It's certainly healthier than getting a caffeine fix (nic free, of course). :)

You probably already know this, but the best flavor is achieved with a rebuildable atomizer.

Sounds to me like you're a mature responsible adult, using a perfectly legitimate plan to self-medicate, and it sounds like it's working for you, so congrats!

I used vaping to quit smoking, now using it to stay quit, but I was a little concerned about the weight gain so many ex-smokers experience; I was on a post-holiday diet in January when I first started vaping, and I really didn't want to gain back what I had already lost. But what I discovered was that since I can sit in the house and vape to my heart's content, I'm doing a lot less shoveling junk-food into my mouth, so the weight loss actually continued; I'm now within 4 lbs of my ideal weight (started at about 18 lbs over).

Nicotine is indeed a real helper for those with ADD, which explains to me a great deal about why one of my withdrawal symptoms, when I tried once quitting "cold turkey," was a total lack of focus and complete inability to concentrate on anything. I don't suffer any of that now, with vaping, though it's more than 3 months since my last smoke.

I'm sure that there may be individuals for whom vaping is not a very good choice, but for most, whether smoker, former smoker, or total non-smoker, it seems to be a perfectly reasonable choice, for WHATEVER reason it's chosen. If it offers more help than harm, go for it!

I really appreciate and respect all of your opinions, thank you so much for all your wonderful responses.

A lot of you seem that it would be a good idea to try some nicotine in my juice to help me with my ADD. I understand how it could help and benefit me but at the same time I feel that I have already fixed 2 of my problems by starting vaping, I do not want to replace them with another problem (nicotine addiction . Perhaps some time in the future when I upgrade my setup, get a feel for what flavors I want and all that fun stuff I will try with some nicotine. Other than that, I do not see myself trying it any time soon.

Thanks again for all the responces: I have increased my water intake by over four times what I use to drink and I don't eat NEARLY as much junk food as I use to... And it has only been a little over a week!

I can certainly understand that; with some of the depression-type withdrawal symptoms I've suffered, it's been suggested to me, and I've seriously considered, using some of the "whole tobacco alkaloid" (WTA) e-juice to help, but my feeling is that since I'm doing so well in my quitting without that, and gone this long away from actual cigarettes, that can of worms is nearly closed, and I don't want to re-open it.

Nicotine is really more of a dependency than an addiction, much like caffeine, but many people -- myself included, to some extent -- have difficulties with that dependency on caffeine, and some of caffeine's more uncomfortable side-effects -- twitchiness, jumpiness, inability to sleep -- as well as the real potential hazards to the cardiovascular system, so it's certainly understandable that you wouldn't want to create a dependence where none existed. I guess it depends on how severely ADD troubles you; if it's something you can deal with without drugs, and manage ok, then great! If it becomes a more serious problem for you, then nicotine is probably far less dangerous than any other drug you might take for it, so do keep it in mind, as you deal with your ADD symptoms.

I think it's great! Well Done!

And for those who are all about "only ex-smokers/wannabe ex-smokers" here's an interesting snippet.

During the Hawaii legislative session as it pertained to vaping, and specifically addressing a bill that wanted to ban flavors - the committee was swayed in vaping's favor after hearing from adult diabetics who found vaping to be tremendously effective for them as a way to successfully avoid the temptations of sweet foods and drinks.

I suggested this to my diabetic mom, who started in on constant snacking (usually sweets) when she quit smoking, but she's been quit for so long now, she won't even consider it, not even 0mg. Still snarfing down the goodies though.

It's tempting to advertise this publicly!

Whatever works for YOU to keep YOU from your own Bad Habits.

Personally I'd see a doctor, Shrink, and get some meds.

ADD? I don't believe in it. Junk.

Most of the time it is used to curb, IMHO, normal male children to make them more like Girls.

I haven't done the research but I bet 95% of children diagnosed with ADD are Male. Stunting the Boys will be Boys growth process.
