and ANY time I was going to be outside for ANY reason

That's really about the only one left that hits me. With a PV in my pocket and the analogs tucked away in a dresser drawer in the house, that gets the job done. It actually works in reverse when you think about it, that is if you don't smoke in your house. Much more convenient to grab the PV and stay put than plan the next opportunity to run outside so I can smoke. Although, I do miss snooping on the neighbors while out front on the porch smoking :D

I didn't set out to quit smoking, only to cut back and get the convenience of vaping a lot of places I can't or won't smoke. I've exceeded my expectations and have now gone up to 4 days between analogs without even trying too hard. If I just "think" about smoking I can reach for the PV and settle that urge, no matter what the trigger is. If I start obsessing about smoking, I'll just have one and get it out of my system. I've done that for the past month and those obsessive moments are getting fewer and farther apart.

I'm surprising my DH. He knows absolutely nothing about this. I'm sure he'll cry.

Good for you! Whether you cut way back like me or quit on day 1 like some others here, I'm sure he'll be pleased. The extra added bonus is you most likely won't turn into a ..... on wheels because you're trying to stop smoking.

On earlier quit attempts, both cold turkey and on Wellbutrin, I was way worse than my usual surly self. My wife, who quit smoking over 25 years ago, has remarked on several occasions about that not being the case since I've cut way back this time using a PV.

Tee, I started at age 10, I am 41, the longest I ever quit for was a year and a half (started smoking again when I dated someone who smoked...won't make THAT mistake again.) I am on day 7 not one drag and this hasn't been NEARLY as difficult as the "other" times I quit, lol. This is it, I am done, I KNOW it in my heart, analogs just grossed me out equally as much as I loved them, so for me the e-cig is the PERFECT solution, as I suspect it is for a lot of people. YES, YOU CAN DO THIS. I am going through an ugly diovorce, have 4 kids, one autistic and I have a TON of stress in my life....but I'm doing it and I've never been happier or felt better, YES YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I was pretty much a chain smoker for 44 years...2,3, or more packs a day, depending how long the day was...the only thing that really was a trigger was just breathing! I wasn't doing very well at that towards the end. I really knew "trying" an e-cig was my only salvation.
Now I'm chain-vaping!!
But seriously I've cut back on nicotine, and my vaping is down to about 1½mls-2mls a day of juice. It's absolutely an amazing thing, life after smoking. You can smell everything, and taste everything, and I found out how bad my sister smells! (She's 69 this year, and very stubborn about quitting!) By the way, my breathing is back to my teen years, quality wise. I've lost my chronic bronchitis, asthma symptoms, my many bouts with double pneumonia, constant nasal and sinus infections. I haven't even had a cold for almost two years.
Best of luck to all!!
