Once you get started vaping it becomes a mind over matter, and alot of self control. Your subconscious thinks that you NEED a cigarette because you smell them and are around them. Your body is trained to light up a smoke whenever you feel a craving for nic.

All you need to do is stand strong and tell yourself you DONT need it. Pull out your vape and get your nic that way.

Cigarettes started tasting pretty bad the more I vaped. I actually didn't have any intention to quit smoking. I'm just one of the lucky few who developed an extreme distaste for the taste and smell of cigarettes once I started vaping. I couldn't even finish the last one I smoked. It tasted and smelled like a burning tire heap in a garbage dump.

I switched the vaping while I was trying to quit by conventional ways , back then I managed to cut my smoking habit by half so I guess that's why the switch was easy for me .

On the first month I had some desire to smoke , especially because I had to vape around smokers at work but it later vanished , been like this for almost 6 months after close to 9 years of smoking , AMAZING.

One thing I found that's true is if my nicotine amount is correct in my juice I won't crave a smoke.I was A two pack a day smoker and I quit the day I got my vaporizer. I use 24 MG nicotine. That's higher than most here I know however it stops my cravings and I'm completely comfortable. Only time I've truly found it difficult was when under extreme stress, even then if I vape the cravings go. I truly believe if your getting your correct amount of nicotine for you, you won't get those cravings . It's worked for me so far these few months I've quit. And I never thought it possible for me to quit. Hope this helps. Best wishes

Some folks, such as myself, find it easy to quit cigarettes. Others will grab a cigarette at any opportunity that presents itself, such as my wife. BTW, I give her no crap when she lights up.

Oddly, to me anyway, she has always been a much better controlled smoker only lighting up once every two or three hours while I would light up within no longer than interval of 15 minutes after putting out the last.

Even though many of my friends that vape will still light up a cigarette, they're still smoking much less then they were before and for that, I commend them. With that, I'd say there's no reason to feel guilty at all for the occasional smoke.

I'm happy that I was able to walk away completely though without any real temptation to ever light up again.

I agree. Except for the bit about '"self control". It sounds like a horrible effort, a fight against yourself. You need "self control" when dieting, for example, denying your body the food, the nourishment that it is screaming for. I have done it. It is horrible. And when you give in to your body's demands, then you feel "weak", "worthless" and you are full of self-blame. Which leads to a vicious cycle.

How about a much easier way? ;)

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. ~Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, 1891 :D

What does your body want? When drinking, after a nice meal, with a cup of espresso?
It wants the usual act of taking in nicotine. Of inhaling some nice nicotine containing stuff, of exhaling it with pleasure.
And you can have all that - with vaping.

What do your taste buds want? When drinking, after a nice meal, with a cup of espresso?
They want the lovely flavor (e.g. of a small, sweet-flavored cigar - I used to love those) that they are used to. The nice flavor that goes so well with those activities.
And you can have all that - with vaping.

What do your habits want? Any time / on any occasion when you used to light up a cigarette?
Nothing that you cannot have with vaping. :)

You can have it all :) Only without the smoke as such.

I say: If you are anything like me, if the mere thought of "I can never (do something) again" makes you crave just that thing - then forget "self control'". Forget fighting against your body, your desires. Instead, ask your body, your desires '"What do you really want?" 'And then listen. Because they will tell you.

They will say "I want the nice flavor of a cigar" - Then give them that flavor, in your PV.
They will say "I want to fiddle with something in my hand" - then grab your PV and fiddle with it.
They will say "I want to inhale deeply - I always do that when I have to think hard" - then grab your PV and inhale deeply.

You can have it all :)

Yes, sometimes your desires will speak of a tobacco cigarette. For the simple reason that they have not yet realized that you have something much better now. ;) And yes, it takes a conscious effort to transform all smoking rituals into vaping rituals. Vape instead of smoking in all smoking situations. Your desires will catch on quickly. So will your habits. And after a short time, you will reach for your PV as normally as you reached for your cigarettes.

Trust me. I've been there. :)

/edit:
I'm happy that I was able to walk away completely though without any real temptation to ever light up again.

Same here.
And some applied psychology (see above) made it really easy for me. I gave my desires what they really wanted - and they were happy and satisfied :)

Exactly the same taste I had during my last cigarette. Couldn't even finish because I became nauseous as well. That was day 3 and haven't touched one since. :)

Before I started vaping, whenever I would drink I would end up smoking cigs. Now I have no urge. Vaping really has taken away my urge for any and all tobacco products. Nothing like drinking some good whisky and vaping some ahlusion Fijian nights. I will say I definitely vape more when drinking but don't ever get the urge for cigs.
