Newb here to site- been vaping for 6 months. Thought I would be smart, watch a few Youtubes on moving up from my Joyetech eGo-CC to a variable voltage unit with a decent size tank. Filling the tiny tanks on the eGo and not getting good hits was forcing me back to tobacco. Well that was a big failure.... Got my Smok SID today along with 3 tank options reviewed on the tube. They all suck or I am a real dumbass. Maybe both...
Running the SID at 3v, 1st tank- Smoketech 510 Pyrex DCT tank wont fire- gets an error message, put same tank on my Joyetech battery and it worked for a few hits and than fried my battery. 2nd tank- Smoketech UDCT works on the SID (same exact thread and base as tank 1 that wouldn't work) but hardly any smoke or vapor. Full tank and preprimed as suggested on the tube. Same result putting this tank on my extra Joyetech battery- hardly any smoke or vapor. 3rd tank- Aspire BDC ET Glassomizer, works on the SID but again with very little smoke and vapor. Pretty disappointing after watching the huge clouds I see on the videos and I spent several hours watching videos to make this decision.

Best advice I can provide to all newcomers- find a reputable and knowledgeable vape shop in your area and buy from them, dont try and do it on your own.

What is the resistance of your carto's/ the heads on your tanks?

3v is barely enough power anything, especially dual coil carto's and that aspire BDC, up the voltage to 3.6 and keep moving up till you find your sweet-spot or it starts to taste burnt (if burnt reduce power a bit), you'll likely find yourself settling between 4-4.4v.

the first one probably has a short, its not very common but they are built by hand in mass quantities so it does happen. I would toss that cartomizer as it wont work on anything. First thing I also did before filling was check the resistance. it should be +/- .2 of the labeled ohm's, and be considered acceptable, unless they were mislabeled.

3v on a battery is very very weak. Your joyetech batteries will be about 3.7v, so your actually setting the sid to low to really work better then the joyetech batt's. Try starting out at 3.5ish and slowly go up till it taste best.

as far as knowledgeable vape shop that funny. All the ones sell highend stuff and advanced stuff, but if you walk in and ask for something by name its rare that the sales rep will know what it its even when its right in front of them. Thats when I stopped using the vape shops here. Having someone that doesn't know the products by name, tells me they wont know how to properly advise people that saw it recommended online.
