That is a great question! I own both and in my opinion the DID wins easily. Here are my reasons.
1) Larger wick hole.
2) Fits any device with standard 510 connection.
3) 1.2mm air hole. The ZAP is just too airy for my liking.
4) Top screws on so the air hole is always where it should be.
5) Smaller overall footprint.
For the record, I sold my ZAP after one week and bought a second DID. Now don't get me wrong, the ZAP is meticulously crafted and works well but the DID works better. Notice I did not mention price. I don't care what they each cost, I just want the best vaping device and for me the DID is that!

If you're new to this. Get the ZAP. It comes with a ready to go wick and coil. Just fill and vape. The DID is very frustrating to get it working and when you do it gets really hot to the touch.

Yeah I heard it gets hot. I'm not too new to rebuildable atomizers, I work in an e-cig shop and have messed around with a few and I know how to build them. I just haven't had the funds to buy one yet and I want to make sure I'm happy with the first one I buy

Yes the ZAP comes with pre-made wicks, but they are quite skinny due to the smaller wick hole and the included insulator. You don't need an insulator if the wick is properly oxidized so it just makes for a thinner wick. The Mini DID is difficult to work with because of the small diameter. The regular DID is no harder than any other standard sized Genesis atty. Yes it gets hot, as do all Genny's because the coil is near the metal cap. Personally, I use 3mm silica wick folded in half on all my Genny's now because I don't have to worry about shorts and hot spots and the flavor is better in my opinion. Here is a pic of my set up. I've run about 12ml through this and the coil is still quite clean. You may want to try it out for yourself and see what works best for you once you get into Genny's.

What size and kind of wick are you using in your DID? And which wire for the coil?

I'm open to any suggestions. I know there's better ones out there, but the DID I can order today and the ZAP ill be able to order in 10 days. I just wasn't trying to wait for ever to order one

I just recently bought a Cobra and this thing beats the ZAP and the DID. I don't know what it is but I'm have a good experience with it. Coil setup was easy and the vape is better than both of them. It has the option to setup dual coils and has a tight draw. It's made from titanium and has a pyrex tube so it's light weight and you can use any juice.

I know several people who hated the ZAP when they first got it do to the super airy draw but stuck with it and now love it and hate everything else. I didn't stick with it that long as I felt the DID clone I had was every bit as good if not better vape and...because I did not want to ruin every other normal draw device I own for me.

Just something else to consider. Also am a believer in cotton wicks in genny devices over SS. At least an option you should explore and see for yourself.

Okay do I tried out both the Short DID and the Mini Did. And I tried the ZAP. Definitely going with a DID. I'm not a fan of an airy draw and even if I did get used to it, it would ruin everything for me that has a more restricted draw (cartos). I also think the DID puts off much better flavor. DID wins in my book. Thanks for all the info!
