So we had a vape meet last night. I went and got some education on coil building. Came home and wrapped my first successful coil on my ZAP. I did 5-6 wraps and it came out to 2.7ohms. I know thats pretty high but it vaped wonderfully at 5.8v. Got up this morning and now Im getting the metallic taste again. Checked the coil, still 2.7ohms. Took the cap off, tilted and fired. The top 2-3 coils started glowing red with juice. So I assumed it was where it set standing up all night and the wick got dry. I tilted it down and let the juice saturate and fired again. All good this time (or so it seemed) but Im still having the metallic taste.

Any ideas?
Thanks

For whatever reason, you've developed a hot spot. The metallic taste is always due to a hot spot. Having juice in the tank and a saturated wick makes it impossible to detect. Take a syringe, and pull the juice back out of the tank. Turn the device horizontal, with the wick/coil oriented at 12 o'clock, and dry burn the coil. As the wick dries, you should find the offending coil. Bump the coils around, with a mini screwdriver, syringe needle, toothpick, or some other device, until everything glows uniformly. One thing many people overlook, especially if they are using a vv or vw device, is that the coils need to glow evenly at whatever voltage or wattage you're going to vape at. As you're adjusting your coils, keep bumping the voltage or wattage up, until you reach your vaping voltage or wattage. Just because you don't have a visible hot spot at 3.5 volts, doesn't necessarily mean that you won't have one at 5 volts, if that's where you vape.
