What's the revolution in Zens carto system? He mentioned in a video that the carto taste is not there and much better. I don't like cartos for that reason but was intrigued by his statement. Apologies if this was covered already.

Thanks,
Ken
IMHO the carto taste depends entirely on the type of carto being used....its all up to the wick/filler and coil used in the carto, carto tanks help keep the carto filled with juice so I think he is just reiterating the obvious....regardless of zen's carto system or any other carto tanks the carto will provide better flavor if used in a tank (such as a smok dct)...other than that its just a hybrid mechanical with a very specific purpose....there are new cartos these days with ceramic material, but they are not provided by zenesis i believe...
it looks nicer because its a hybrid, made for people who like carto tanks....thats all...not too intriguing imho...

Got my Launch Day Works pkg today. Pretty bummed out. Received it in a mailer pouch, no boxing, with everything loose and a shattered hybrid tank. Glass in everything. :(
Battery rattles are not too bad, but the inconsistency of the switch/battery/tube sizing is depressing. 350 tube needs 2 washers in the switch screw to make contact; with the kick installed in the 490 and 650 tubes, the switch assy bottoms out on the battery with 1 1/2 threads showing (fixes the batt rattle, tho!).
The contact screw falls out of the carto attachment. The carto hits well with the kick. Not a game changer, tho, IMHO. And now I see on the E-Stix site that the gold-plated accessories will have to be replaced. More info in 2 weeks. (((sigh)))
Still happy overall. The mods look great with the gold trim. Fit and finish are awesome. These are my first mech mods. I have been using a sat black ProVari for the last 8 months, with Phiniac tanks, so I have pretty high standards...

Also I found the perfect solution for the battery rattle issue... $2.50 Home Depot trip... An o ring that is taller and goes around the black plastic insert on the switch and fits perfectly in the tube...

The exact size of the o-ring 3/4 OD X 9/16 ID X 3/32... one for a AW battery (two stacked for Pan. flat head)... I also put two washers on the screw for better contact.

Also that’s $2.50 for 10 o-rings... I will post pictures later and also start a new thread because this thread is all over the place...

I am happy, but really the simple solution is make the switch adjustable with a threaded plastic insert... that would accept 64mm to 70mm of stuff (ie battery or battery with kick) and then adjust it to your setup. This is in 18650 mode. But would apply to all models.

Mikes statements in that 4/2013 interview, "it changes the way a carto behaves", "it changes the way we use a carto", "it doesn't taste like a carto", and "game changer" was what intrigued me. Not because it's a hybrid carto system.

I personally like the ease of use and portability of carto tanks, never had a lot of luck with taste...in my limited experience.

going to home depot for $30 sigelei mechanicals is one thing, having to go to home depot for a $100+ mod is unacceptable imo, good thing i cancelled my z2 order and bought the GP paps 2.5 lux instead, so worth it!

I agree... but it is a simple fix... it's the way the switch is designed... I believe all mods should take into consideration the fact that batteries are not all the same size... But at least Zen left play in the system so you can adjust it with an o-ring. What I really don't like is that switch will not screw all the way in with a kick and a AW 18490/18500 battery (that is not an easy fix) unless you find a shorter battery/kick...(or really modify the switch).... But since Zen has released the design specs someone will come out with a tube that is adjustable.

Overpriced, and gold plated connection will wear out. Why they would gold plate it other than catch ignorant fish i have no idea as gold is not the best conductor of electricity and the connection if plated is only as good as the metal used underneath the plating. If any company wishes to make the best connection possible then it needs to be silver as that is the best conductor of electricity. And not silver plate but silver components. Just the stone cold truth. Don't be swayed by gold or silver plate connections. Brass plated with silver will still only conduct electricity as good as the brass underneath it. I can't for the life of me understand why one would pay that much for milled tubes in the first place unless made of silver.

I have the Zeneis 2 Carto Tank I recently picked up. Love it from a taste perspective but I had something unexpected happen to me today. I went to change batteries and the center screw for the carto tank came with it (loose). It seems to just slide in and out. Does anyone know if that's the intended design? I put it back in and seems to be working, so not a deal breaker but I want to be sure.
