I am having the same problem, I tried fiddling with the spring in the switch exactly the way it shows in the Zen FAQ but it didn't help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

if your screw looks like that, it does not conduct current worth a crap!!. buy a brass screw and sand it . imop the switch is a turd. I got tired of a mod that needs training wheels to stand up and all the leaking juice on my hands so I stopped trying to use mine and puchased a silver dog. Now Im in vaping heaven.
I am sure others have found methods to alter it so it works for them.

Thanks for your input sachavaca, I guess I will give that a try today, really frustrating after spending so much on a mod and it won't fire properly.
i solved this problem (i dont know if it is the correct way), i took out the top magnet of the switch and place it at the bottom of my 18350 battery(as a battery spacer), it is working much much better now 
or you can order a battery spacer on Avid Vaper

that is not a great idea. If it slides sideways could ground to the tube causing battery runaway, look for a better long term fix
Hope it helps ethic, my batteries all ended up with huge dent in the bottom from that same problem. Mike(manufacturer) said you must be doing something wrong blah blah blah. Finally after hours of fiddling and trying to communicate with him (never could) I changed the screw and fixed that part. sheez, hours and hours of fiddling and still more challenges ahead. In the end I have a nice paper weight.
honestly the materials and quality control on my zenesis is great, the design in my opinion sucks.
Scott (igotcha) reviews almost all genesis and still will not write a review for the zenesis, make your own assumptions.
