This is a very simple diy carto hole punch that can be made with a small scrap peice of 2x4 wood and a wood screw...

Ive tried slotting cartos with a dremel and even using vg juices like bobas I still got leakage and gurgling.

After that experience I went with a saddle valve from lowes , worked great for a while but quickly became dull and bent not to mention distorted the cartos too much for my liking...

I then went to just a sharpened hole punch with a carto sitting in a groove I made on my workbench and a hammer... honestly - this method worked better than above but got tired of running to my garage to punch cartos when they came in...

So I had this very simple carto punch idea in my head for a while that i finally tried and it works fantastic!!!

All you need is a scrap peice of wood, a drill, and a decking screw. I used a drill bit that my carto slides in the hole snug and there is barely any distortion this way, im using a 2 1/2" black wood/decking screw that is very sharp and punches the hole effortlessly, it hasnt dulled on me yet and even if it does - you can get a box of 50 or so of them for a couple bucks.

I predilled a small pilot hole for the screw- make sure it ends up centered in the larger carto hole and perpendicular as well. U can measure it out so you just slide the carto in untill its flush with the face of the wood and your hole ends up right in the spot you want it so you dont have to measure and guess everytime you punch one.

I have found that once the screw is just touching the carto- three turns of the wrist with a screwdriver (not three full turns) gets me a perfect size hole.

(In the picture I have the wood screw on the right and a larger screw which I sharpened on the left, to experiment with hole sizes etc.... I now just use the standard sized black wood/decking screw on the right- they are sharp and work perfect)

Very creative and interesting. Best of all, nearly free to try. Will give it a shot this week. Thanks.

As far as I remember, I already wrote this method on the forum:
Using the grinding Dremel bit as a drill make a round hollow in a wall leaving very thin part of the wall, then make needed hole with just a sewing needle or a nail tapping it with a hammer. You get a very accurate hole.

i think this adds a twist (screw ---- pun intended) allowing for accurate holes- ive found you can get a small hole with 2 twists of the screwdriver, 3 or 4 turns for a larger hole for vg liquids, this gives a little more control over using a hammer, although ive used the hammer and sharpened hole punch method with decent results
