I thought I'd attempt to revive the daily Zombie calendar offerings, and see if I have time & if anyone is interested in reading & discussing & laughing at them...

This year's calendar is called Zombie smarts and has little tips, questions & quotes about our favorite topic...zombies!

I may double 'em up since I'm starting half way thru the year!

First up:
Survival Tip; Don't play Zombie ! Just because it worked in Shaun of the Dead doesn't mean it will let you go unnoticed!
Unless you can cover yourself in blood & guts to mask your human-y scent, you will be recognized as the zombie's next meal right away!

OK now. Good to know. (yuck)

Today's tidbit is a multiple choice question. Answer follows - hold your cursor over it to reveal...

What book is considered to be the FIRST true "zombie literature" ?
A) Book of the Dead
B) The Magic Island
C) The Serpent & the Rainbow
D) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Answer: Book of the Dead, 1989, a compilation of horror stories linked by a worldwide outbreak of zombies!

Hmmm, isn't this exactly what they did in The Walking Dead to get past a zombie horde?

Book of the Dead(?)

If you are old (like me) you have less to worry about. Stale human tastes nasty.

I believe the book they refer to is this one:
Book of the Dead anthologies by Editors John Skipp & Craig Spector

And, by the way, I think that us old folks probably taste delicious. Aged like fine wine! :toast:

Will keep all my comments to myself:D

Today's tidbit from the calendar;
from Norse mythology; the Viking Draugar. These beasties could at will double or triple their size. They had superhuman strength & could crush any humans who attempted to fight them. Like any respectable zombie (or vampire??) they would feast on the flesh & blood of their victims.

Also, from wikipedia, the fount of all knowledge right? They say this about the word; also known as aptrgangr ("afturgöngur" in modern Icelandic) (literally "again-walker", or "one who walks after death")

I like "again-walker". Sounds so much less scary than zombie...

Today's "survival tip" is pretty obvious I think; "If something doesn't feel right in an area, go with your gut instinct & either do a comprehensive sweep or get a move on".

So, I'll snazz it up a bit to reveal yesterday's tidbit. It recommends playing the game Zombie Dice, which I can also recommend. The dice have brains and gunshots on them & you roll until you've gotten lots of brains, or are shot.
A good beer drinking game to play while you're sitting in the bunker waiting until it's safe to escape!

I'm not sure which "cat"agory this should fall into...But it reminded me of Mac's plan to reuse zombies as waiters at his casino and, well, I'm just not sure what to say from there. If you really love sweet kitties, don't watch this. Seriously, this guy loved his cat so much, that after it died, he mourned for a bit, and then made it into a helicopter.

Calendar's survival tip of the day; Exercise every day. "As Jesse Eisenbert's character, Columbus, from the movie Zombieland says; A key part of survival is being able to outrun flesh eating monsters. So hit the pavement and start running".

And remember folks - You don't have to run the fastest...You just have to run faster than the other humans in your group!
